The final list of Top 10 Highest Opening Day Collections of 2014 Bollywood movies is out. Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year is the biggest opener of the year, as the film amassed Rs 44.97 crore on its opening day at the box office.
Aamir Khan’s PK has edged out Salman Khan’s Kick as the highest non-holiday opener, even though Kick had about 20% higher footfalls on Day 1. The increased ticket prices and fantastic opening at high-end multiplexes, helped the film collect Rs 26.63 crore on Friday.

26.63 is under performance but however it should do 90+ in the 1st weekend and around 140 in its week1 and might just overtake Kick in the long run. Lets hope for the best.

Yes,even I am Aamir fan but I simply loved the stand of single screens cinema owners against pk,Pk maker and utv increase ticket higher percentage and it is simply a lesson to every body in film ground to not inflate figure much,I think pk has suffered more due to high prices instead of lower rates,due to high rates most of audience prefer to watch on weekday as film for huge appreciation.For example if ticket rates remain same as hny or kick people come out more Numbers in weekend which increase the footfalls as well as collection but now footfall may remain good in weekdays but as we know weekend prices are much higher than normal day in multiplexes.So its a losing situation for PK team and a lesson too for all.
Other thing I will say more than collection I want pk should be appreciated as a movie and from every where on internet I found huge appreciation whether from critics or audiences so expect a huge total ahead.

It’s prove again that currently Salman is a strong following compare to any body but it has too seen will any of his fan will go yo watch in huge chunk yo theatre when PRDP release.Kick has the fantastic trailer and a remake with action that go in positive for kick along with Salman presence while pre eid factor went against the film otherwise kick would definitely crossed 30cr+.But PK also got huge total as it released less screens compared to hny and pk and its confirmed by trade and BOI.Higher ticket rates goes positive for figure of pk and its now highest non holiday opener for film.But collection could have been more better but not bad either.Non popular music and multiplex favouring content goes against the movie.So both PJ and kick performed equally on their opening day for me as kick got contribution from single screens and multiplex while Pk got most from multiplex.
Finally PK rocks and we know Pk is great film and it rock for sure.Finger crossed.

I dont agree with you that kick suffered due to ramzan release…opening of big stars like Salman,Amir,SRK,HR is always great but when they get advantage of holidays in weekdays the collections are really boosted..Kick did about 168cr ist week because it took advantage of eid on 4,5th day…Similarly krish 3 did 165 cr as diwali holiday was on monday when it did record business…CE was benefited by Independence day on 7th day by collecting 19 cr…But what happened with HNY after a bumper start if settled down and eventually was behind above mentioned movies…..Now PK will also get benefit from holiday and may score above HNY ist week despite of about 19 cr less opening day..So for me holiday on weekdays of ist week is best option as recent movies proves it…
