The Telugu film ‘Bahubali 2’ aside, the Hindi Film Industry doesn’t have much to show so far this year. The biggest hit of the year so far is Varun Dhawan’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, followed by ‘Hindi Medium’. The other clean-hit this year is Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LLB 2’. Almost all other films have under-performed, with the industry’s highest grosser – Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees – just about managing to cross the 130 crore mark at the domestic box office.
All eyes, yet again, will be on Salman Khan and his much-awaited Eid release ‘Tubelight’. The track-record of the megastar during Eid is outstanding to say the least. All his films from 2010 (Dabangg) to 2016 (Sultan) have been blockbusters or better.
Each year the industry looks forward to the Eid period to get its biggest grosser and Salman, in the last 6 years, hasn’t disappointed. (Note: Shah Rukh Khan took the Eid weekend in 2013 and delivered the industry’s highest grosser)

It’s a foregone conclusion that ‘Tubelight’ will beat the record of ‘Raees’ in 5 days or less to become the highest Hindi grosser of 2016. But the big question is going to be the difference. The last couple of years have been phenomenal for Salman, both in terms of the opening as well as the lifetime collections of his films. Even a film like ‘Sultan’ which carried average word-of-mouth and did not trend as well as ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, went on to collect 301 crore at the domestic box office.
If the emotions in ‘Tubelight’ work, then we could see yet another film this year that could challenge the record of Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’.

Salman has failed since 2010 to give industry its biggest blockbuster despite getting solo release during Eid . SRK did with CE and that too with one open week.
I’m 100% sure Salman won’t give the biggest hit of all time in his 10000 birth.
coming to Dimlight it looks really weak as far as trailer is concerned. I don’t think it will break any record . I have a feeling that Dimlight will fail at B.O from expectations wise.

I know that Tubelight is gonnna be the highest grosser of the year and most probably will easily double its collection but still I have got a gut feel that this film will be terrible……the trailer looks boring and emotional connect is lost all over…..the India theatrical rights have been sold for 132 Crores (official) to NH Studioz which means that to break-even, it requires atleast 265 Crores……Blockbuster for producers as Music Rights have been sold for 20 Crores to Sony Music and a Chinese distribution Company bought the film for 75 Crores which means it will have to collect 300 Crores there (studios get 25% of the collections there according to BBC, Deadline, Variety and Box office.com)…..but for the distributors it is a very risky film as if it’s not up to the mark, it will be a failure for both Indian and Chinese distributor (Dangal worked there because of emotional connect and feminism)….and then it will be called a semi-hit as if it was a very successful one for all involved like previous SRK ( I love his acting) films like Dilwale and Raees……but I hope Sallu bhai and Kabir Sir make a good film like BB and it breaks BB’s records….tickets booked and fingers crossed!

It will surely cross 300cr now because after the 2 songs (Tinka Tinka and Main Agar) the interest to watch the movie has increased even among the neutral audience and also the haters have appreciate these two songs…..So it will cross BB collection and becomes the biggest grosser of Salman khan, it may also cross PK…..For Dangal it has to something special and should have extremely positive WOM because it EID does not have holidays like Christmas also Rain could affect movie to some extend……Let See…
More than BO collection I want Tubelight to cross 4.5cr FF (or minimum 4cr FF)……If it cross this much FF than I am more happier then BO collection……I want this movie to be most watched movie of Bollywood in this decade……

The Post-IPL period is losing its value now. Till 2015, it dominated the first half but no longer now. Housefull 3 and Half Girlfriend had underperformed. In the next 2 years, Eid will fall in the same period as Post IPL(Early June) so it will lose its value. Plus, producers have now started eyeing the April month after the super success of TJB and Bahubali 2.

Even if it’s not a hindi movie, before eid should be hindi total of Baahubali 2. Are you afraid to show that this time your favorite megastar won’t be able to beat the HGOTY despite Eid ?

tubelight’s runtime is only 2hrs 16 minutes which is according to me dissappointing. all the 300 crore plus grossers are much longer in runtime. i think something around 2 hours 40 minutes would have been ideal. infact if i am not wrong all the atbbs of bollywood are more tha 2 hours 30 minutes, so tubelight will definetly not become an atbb and may not even cross 300 crore.

Same Sultan movie was also screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, and
Same Sultan movie is now shortlisted to compete for top honors at “Shanghai International Film Festival” this June
Now Salman is very serious about his movie selection, he will not chose any movie which is low in content…….Just Wait & Watch Tubelight will be another Masterpiece of Salman…..
IMO tubelight could surprise all n do a DANGAL…I hope it grosses 400cr + as Bhai has missed out on the tag of Highest Grosser Of All Time in recent times by the odd percent or two ie ETT 2012…!
