Alia Bhatt learns Tamil culture and tradition for 2 States

Alia BhattStudent Of The Year star Alia Bhatt, who plays a Tamilian girl in “2 States”, is not just trying to pick the accent but is also learning the typical household culture of a Tamil home.

She is going out of her way to fit the bill as a Tamil Iyengar girl for the movie, based on Chetan Bagat’s novel “2 States: The Story of My Marriage”. The story is about a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Tamil girl, and the ensuing cultural clashes between them and their families.

A source close to Alia, the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, reveals, “She is learning the Tamil culture and tradition. She has also hired a special Tamilian teacher who will help her to adapt the south Indian culture.”

Alia, who made her debut with Karan Johar’s “Student Of The Year” in 2012, was also spotted in many south Indian localities to get a grip on her character.

In “2 States”, she will feature opposite “Ishaqzaade” actor Arjun Kapoor. They even got together for a photoshoot recently, where Alia wore some typical south Indian saris – a contrast to her modern avatar in “Student Of The Year”.

“2 States” is directed Abhishek Verman and co-produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala.

  • Ayushman would have been a more better choice instead of Arjun as the Delhi boy & Tamanna would have played the heroine.BTW WHY they are casting Alia bhatt for a MBA students role she still looks like a teenager.

  • Hmmm…. Interesting…!!! She was good as the rich girl in SOTY. Let’s see how much justice she could do to this role, where she has to play completely opposite type of a character.
