43 films have now crossed the 100 crore mark at the box office in India and almost all of them belong to major male stars in the industry. The only exceptions are Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Grand Masti – both of which were sequels to successful films.
Salman Khan has dominated the industry unlike any other actor in recent times, and his winning streak of mega grossers and blockbusters is probably the best of all time. Since the second half of 2010, every single film featuring the megastar in the lead, has crossed the 100 crore mark. He leads the second best (Shah Rukh Khan) by a margin of 3 films.
Salman also has a unique record of 9 consecutive films crossing the 100 crore mark, which other actors will struggle to achieve. Shah Rukh was 6 not out, but was dismissed earlier this year when FAN failed to cross 100.
Ajay Devgn has 5 major grossers. He’s now tied with Akshay Kumar, whose latest release ‘Housefull 3’ has just surpassed 100. The founder of almost all the clubs - Aamir Khan has 4 films. But all these actors do not have consecutive 100 crore films – Aamir missed out with Talaash. Akshay and Ajay have several films that have failed to cross 100 in the last few years.
Hrithik Roshan has three films, it’s a unbroken streak (Agneepath, Krrish 3 and Bang Bang) which he would hope to continue with Mohenjo Daro later this year and Kaabil early next year. He’s followed by the younger generation of actors – Ranveer, Ranveer and Varun – all have two 100 crore grossers each. John also has two 100 crore films, but both were multistarrers. Arjun, Farhan, Sidharth and Saif have one each.

Tingu Khan’s 3 idiots did 200 crore because of extremely positive word of mouth and Raju Hirani!!! Dhoom3 did 250 crore because of dhoom brand. One thing that Dhoom3 received negative reviews but dhoom films didn’t need positive review it just need chart buster songs like dhoom3. Pk did 300 crore because of extremely positive word of mouth ( not better than bajrangi bhaijaan ) and Raju Hirani.
