Aamir too expensive : Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Aamir Khan’s absconding act proved to be an expensive affair for producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who says that Aamir’s promotional activity – of disappearing and appearing in disguises in different parts of the country – was more expensive than making 3 Idiots.

“This was a unique concept suggested by Aamir that proved very expensive for me as Aamir doesn’t travel by trains. He traveled by jet planes to make the journey quick as he had to travel to different cities all over India,” said producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Aamir explained that the unique plan was suggested by him but it was team work that made it possible. “Initially the idea was wild and Vidhu Vinod Chopra thought that I won’t be able to do it because travelling all across India didn’t seem too plausible. You need jet planes and helicopters for that,” said Aamir Khan.

Aamir made friends in all the cities he visited during his disguise. He even gifted real gold rings to the friends he made. Well, that has given grief to his producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, as he had to arrange for more gold rings than was initially decided upon. “He has made many friends but after a few months we are not going to be his friends,” he laughed, “Believe me, Aamir has played a good game but it has cost me a lot!”
