Gnapakam – Movie Review

This film is a new addition to the string of films based on love stories. The only difference is that this particular film uses astrology as a theme to build up a story. The director has failed to do justice and the film tests the patience of the audience.

Coming to the story, the hero Srinu is the son of a rich landlord. As is common these days the hero goes abroad for higher studies. There he falls in love with Sarangi (Visakha Singh). Srinu learns astrology to please his lover who is a firm believer in astrology. As luck would have it, Srinu reads her plan only to learn that she would fail in her love. This leads the hero into depression. At his juncture, Srinu’s friend from his hometown who is also with him abroad hatches a plan to separate Srinu and Sarangi. He makes Srinu drink heavily and then takes pictures of him in a compromising position with a girl.

The pictures are shown to Sarangi who leaves Srinu and returns to India. Our hero is also very depressed and he leaves everything and comes back home. The hero’s boss and another friend come to India and tell Sarangi the truth. She realizes her folly and gets back to Srinu. With this the film ends on a happy note.

To conclude, the director gives the message that love is everything and it is above astrology.

The hero is lacking in the acting department. He fails to do well even though he is supposed to have done a course in acting. Even Visakha Singh lacks acting skills. The film has nothing to boast of except that a major part of it was shot abroad. The director fails in his attempt to make the story work. All in all a boring film which can be safely given a miss.
