The Zee Cine Awards 2016 was held last night in Mumbai. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani was the big winner of the evening, bagging 10 awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
Unfortunately, the trend of awarding as many actors as possible continued as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh were all presented with the Best Actor trophy. Salman won in the ‘Popular’ category of the Viewer’s Choice awards. The ‘Popular’ and ‘Critics’ categories have always existed, but we wonder how the ‘Best’ Actor trophy can be shared between two actors. How does it become ‘Best’ / Top Most when two actors share one trophy. Which performance was better of the two and hence the best?
Thanks to Kangana Ranaut, who doesn’t care nor attend awards, the choice for Best Actress was pretty straight forward. Deepika Padukone was declared the Best Actress Jury and Popular, for her performance in Piku and Bajirao Mastani.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan was the declared the most popular film of 2016, while Bajirao Mastani won in the jury category.

in 1997 zee cine award gave best actor to ak for sarfarosh & rangeela while filmfare gave to srk for dil to pagal hai. Thats why ak started avoiding awards. If filmfare is really important,then srk is many times better in acting than ak.but this is not truth.since srk won or will win more filmfare than amitabh & legendary dilip kumar,srk is to called better than these two.but this is not truth. There is no actor that can be called more popular than Salman Khan is. So he derserves all the awards in popular category.
Having said that, it absolutely makes no sense in creating new best actor categories to please each and every actor.

To those who are questioning if SRK had won the award in the popular category, many would have accused that SRK bought the award.
We accused SRK for a reason. For SRK, awards matter. It is his aspirations. He does anything to get awards. Sometimes, when it is too obvious for others what is played behind, he cant get them.
But it is sometimes compulsory for Award Organizers to give awards to Salman Khan and alike to same their reputations and value…
