Yash Raj Films Next Few Movies

Film making is more of a passion and craze rather than just a money-making business. Although we have huge financial bigwigs like UTV Motion Pictures, Eros International, Reliance Entertainment, Viacom 18 and Fox Star Studios backing up the movie production and distribution business; it requires thorough knowledge of film-making to judge the pulse of Indian audience at the root level.

Hence it comes as no surprise that few passionate producers, whose roots are from the Hindi film industry, have touched the pinnacle of success with their vast experience and hard-work. Their production houses are on a roll and financial companies are ever-ready to back their projects. It has provided a ray of hope in Bollywood where a normal producer thinks 10 times before initiating a project.

Helmed by Aditya Chopra, Yash Raj Films is undoubtedly the biggest production house in business today. YRF has always been a prestigious production house and they have some epic movies in their kitty directed by legendary Yash Chopra or his son Aditya Chopra. But since 2002, Aditya Chopra has taken a back seat as a director and is putting all his energy to take Yashraj Films to the next level. They are churning out blockbusters every year, with superstars or with newcomers. All their 3 movies in 2012 – Ishaqzaade, Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan were successful with ETT becoming the biggest blockbuster of the year.

Below is a list of upcoming movies of Yash Raj Films in 2013 and 2014.

Aurangzeb: Featuring Arjun Kapoor in a double role, the movie’s first trailer got a positive response all over. The title has sparked an interest as it is after the name of the famous Mughal Emperor who put his father in prison to rule over the kingdom. Rishi Kapoor, Amrita Singh and Jackie Shroff will also be seen essaying pivotal roles. Aurangzeb is all set to release on May 17, 2013. It is directed by debutant Atul Sabharwal.

Dhoom 3: Arguably the biggest movie of 2013 featuring Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in the lead. The first film in the franchise ‘Dhoom’ was a runaway hit in 2004 and ‘Dhoom 2’ (2006) was the biggest hit of the year. The third installment promises to be bigger and better, with ‘Tashan’ director Vijay Krishna Acharya at the helm. The movie is scheduled to release during Christmas this year and is expected to shatter all existing box office records in Bollywood.

Gunday: Set in Kolkata of 1970s, Gunday has Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in the main roles. It is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ fame and is releasing on Valentine Day, 2014. Both Ranveer and Arjun were launched by YRF. Katrina was first approached for the leading role but she had her dates blocked for Hrithik’s ‘Bang Bang’ and hence the role landed in Priyanka’s kitty.

Kill Dil: This movie features Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar and Parineeti Chopra and is directed by Shaad Ali, who made his debut as a director under YRF in 2002 with ‘Saathiya’. His next movie ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ was a huge hit in 2005. Ali could not maintain his winning streak with ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ but now he is back with his 4th directorial venture with YRF. It goes without saying that all the leading actors are YRF prodigies.

Paani: Shekhar Kapoor has joined hands with YRF and he is all set to direct his most ambitious project ‘Paani’. A.R. Rahman will compose music for the movie made on a made budget $30 million. There are reports that the film will star Hrithik Roshan in the lead.

Mardaani: Pradeep Sarkar will direct Rani Mukerji, who plays the bold role of a female cop for the first time in her career. Sarkar had earlier directed ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’ and ‘Lafangey Parindey’ for Yashraj Films.

Dibakar Banerjee’s next: Known for directing movies like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’, ‘Love Sex and Dhoka’, ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ and ’Shanghai’ – Dibakar Banerjee has signed a 3 movie deal with YRF. His first movie, which will be shot in Delhi, has gone on the floors.

Maneesh Sharma’s next: Featuring Sushant Singh Rajput opposite Parineeti Chopra, this yet-to-be-titled movie is directed by Maneesh Sharma of ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ fame. Sushant is a hot property today in industry after the runaway success of ‘Kai Po Che’.

Nupur Asthana’s next: The untitled film directed by Nupur Asthana has Rishi Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. This is both Ayushmann’s and Sonam’s first film with YRF.

NOTE: Apart from these, mega official announcement is awaited for Ali Abbas Zafar’s next with Salman Khan. (Bookmark this page, we will update as soon as it is confirmed officially).
