In the last 41 years that Yash Raj Films’ has been in the business, the production – distribution house has never distributed a film produced by another banner (except Dharma Productions).
All that ‘could’ change with Shahrukh Khan’s upcoming ‘Happy New Year’ which is scheduled to release during Diwali this year.
While Fox Star Studios and Eros International were considered to be the favourites to bag the theatrical rights of the much-awaited film, the buzz in the industry is that SRK and Aditya Chopra recently met and have decided to work together to distribute the film both in India and in the overseas markets.
Directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani. The poster of the film was revealed in the first week of January.
T-Series has acquired the music rights of the film.

The fact is srk waited for his first superhit out of these two banners till Oso which had solo Srk star power, it was also multistarrer but we can’t expect Shreyas and Arjun who can bring audience into theatre as their face value, now you himself judge till 2010, srk had single BB oso, 0 superhit, 4 original hits solo success.His Chalte-2 was a semi hit not a clean hit.Out of 36 films (excluding Yrf,dharma and remake don,devdas).That’s why in my opinion srk success is not bigger than any actor of his time like Akshay,aamir or Salman. You have your reason to deny while others have their to thought as figures speak. I also not started on this page these think, i just said srk knows importance of yrf in his life which is true whether srk provide them success or they provided to him. I already ended these long conversation with @sem after long arguments because at the end no1effected from this,point is if Salman can success only with Masala,hr with his father or Aamir with Dhoom than also Srk had with Yrf/dharma.
@punk and other haterz, always spewing about maya memsaab, it was an art house film NOT a commercial film or a semi porn film, I dont see why u all always ranting about SRK sex scene, even tingu acted in flop art house film dhobi ghat which had cursing and he had an implyed non marriage sex scene with a women, he even produced a vulgar film called delly belly which had sex scene and cursing………………….Aamir did these dirty, sleezy movies at the height of his career but SRK did maya when he was now staring off as a newcomer(no connections), I dont see anyone ranting about aamir vulgar movies!!

@yy mithaiwala : Dont post anything with half baked knowledge. Aamir worked with Yash ji in Parampara which was produced by Nadiadwala and not YRF hence not a YRF production. When I say Yrf or Dharma I am talking about a group or a camp. Srk have always been camps savvy unlike Salman or Aamir. Now you will say Mansoor Khan & David Dhawan as same as Yrf or Dharma. Just check Chandni & Lamhe collections in overseas before srk came to bollywood. That shows Yrf links, agreed they not had big hits but still they have been trend setters before srk came !!!!!!! so it was mutual benefit for both srk n yrf. dont chant srk made them !!!! Also why did Yrf signed Aamir (D3) & Salman (ETT) ? Do you think they needed Yrf ? who gave first 100 & 200 crores ? Did yrf achieve 100 or 200 crores with srk ? They just used AK & SK stardom to cash in and rise in market because they were getting only 70-80 crores with srk movies n some 40-50 crores with movies like Band Baaja Baarat !!!!!!
Let any actor (srk also) release a social oriented movie + with average music + No honey singh or Rajnikanth (basically no item songs) + an average director + a new heroine with average looks + zero holidays apart from saturday & sunday then score 100 crores even with 5000 screens. If you cannot appreciate (5 consecutive BB) ones success then you dont have right to comment or critise for ones failure (Jai Ho still not a failure but below expectation performance at BO) !!!!!!!

why we exclude movies of srk from yash and dharma….?if production houses are important (they are important but cant decide anyone’s career) then JTHT would have been the biggest grosser of year its on star power salman was peak at the time he earned 199cr with same yrf and srk who was at all time low point of his career at that time +clash earned 120cr approx with same yrf…………and even you know that production houses only cast those who can profit them,and no one is sincere to someone or want to establish their career….if srk will give 2 or 3 flops with yrf or dharma then what will they do???still they will cast him???NO NO because they need to earn money and srk proved profitable for them that;s it…..thay gave money to srk for a film so it was very much fair for both parties
