The theatrical trailer was received well, the pre-release buzz was good and the film was expected to open as well as the first film – if not better. Unfortunately, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, starring the Deols, has under-performed in its first week at the domestic box office.
There are two possible reasons why the film failed to bring in the audience. One, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 was a bad film and was rejected by audience as well as the critics. The film scored 37 on our review scale, with 13 average and 7 negative reviews. Two, the stupendous response to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani meant that the Ranbir Kapoor – Deepika Padukone starrer continued to be the first choice in it’s second week.
Right from the first day of it’s release, the collections of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 were lower than the first film. In 2010, YPD1 collected 35 crores in its first week and ended up with lifetime collected of 54 crore. YPD2 is likely to finish with collections of around 40-42 crore.

FLOP? Its filmmakers are telling that it has recovered its budget from theatrical collections only.
I think that it will be a Below Average/Average flick. The four monkeys in the film are highly irritating.
Moreover, this is the first sequel that failed at boxoffice. No?
@JM producers recovered their investment by selling the worldwide rights. Also the satellite and various other rights. But distributors will lose money. Hence, Flop.
Oh… Got that.. The film is a FLOP because the P&A charges are not included in the 30-32 cr budget.
