Much like Prabhu Deva’s last release Rambo Rajkumar (the title of which was later changed to R… Rajkumar), Warner Bros’ have sent a copyright infringement claim to Baba Arts and Eros International – the producers of Action Jackson.
However, this time around, the makers are in no mood to give-in and change the title of their film.
“We named the film Action Jackson because our hero Ajay Devgn is known as ‘AJ’ and we thought it would be a good idea to use the initials and extend it into the title Action Jackson as Ajay is doing both action and dancing in the film” Prabhu Deva said in a telephonic interview.
The director also added that, unlike Rambo Rajkumar, the dispute over the title is very different this time around.
“It isn’t like Rambo Rajkumar where Rambo was a patented name by the Hollywood studio. How can anyone claim copyright over the words ‘action’ and ‘Jackson’? And since the word ‘Jackson’ is in my title for the dancing, we might have Michael Jackson’s family claiming copyright violation. We can’t just keep giving in like this for every title” he added.
When informed that there was Hollywood film with the ‘Action Jackson’ title that released in 1988 featuring Carl Weathers and Sharon Stone, Prabhu said “I had never heard of a Hollywood film titled Action Jackson. Didn’t it come 25 years ago? So many films are titled Romeo & Juliet. Should Shakespeare’s family sue?”
Gordan Tanwani of Baba Arts alleged that a big studio like Warner Bros want to ‘pressurise’ individual producers like him, when 70% of the film has already been shot.
“When you register a title with any or all of these associations, they get their clearance from the government of India. My film is 70 percent complete, why have they sent a notice now? Why do they have an objection now and not earlier”
“It is just because they want to pressurise the individual producer…they know I am an individual producer and they are big people. They want to create pressure on the small producer,” Tanwani said.
Starring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Yami Gautham, Action Jackson is set to clash against Akshay Kumar’s Holiday on June 6th. The trade believes, the title ‘Action Jackson’ could have a huge advantage over Holiday in mass-dominated centres.

I think this film give very tough competition to holiday and if film is as good as wanted or rowdy rathore then might come as a winner.I like both akshay and ajay and I want both films do well at boxoffice declare as boxoffice superhit.
As an akshay fan,i hope the title is changed.Even though akshay is the king of the masses,the title ‘HOLIDAY’ will only help with the multiplex.Prabhu Deva now has some fan following at the mass centres.

Action Jackson is a superb massy title, it will kill Holiday at single-screens. If their trailer is good and music works, then it might be close at multiplexes too.
I hope the makers of Holiday change the title of their film. Thuppakki itself was a very good title, sounds good too. But with a title like Holiday: Solider is never off duty.. masses will stay away.

Thuppakki is the second tamil film to gross 100cr after Rajni’s Endhiran…it also had competition from JTHJ and SOS everywhere..also it was just released in 1000 screens worldwide.
@babaji Akshay can’t be trusted when it deals with released date.He likes to sacrifice but hope this time he stands firm.I will be very much dissapointed if Akshay doesn’t keep 6June with or without clash.
All in all 6 JUNE is a crucial day for akkians and Akshay kumar’s career in completing 25yrs by next year.

I decided not to watch any of the Ajay devgan films after knowing the shameful acts he has done during the release of Jab tak hai jaan movie.. As a SRK lover and the biggest fan, I request all the SRK fans to boycott Ajay’s movie and go for Akshay kumar movie.
