Q. Which movie has higher buzz after the trailer and song launch – Bajirao Mastani or Dilwale? – Bhupendra Sharma
A. The theatrical trailer of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ has significantly increased the buzz around the film, but ‘Dilwale’ continues to be way ahead of its competition. SRK has signed PVR to distribute the film and this is being seen as a masterstroke, a move that could squeeze the last breath out of ‘Bajirao Mastani’. With nearly 500 screens, PVR is the largest multiplex chain in India and if they, as exhibitors, give a massive release for ‘Dilwale’, then ‘Bajirao Mastani’ will be affected big time.
Like it or not, SRK is smarter and a step ahead of the rest. Even if it’s at the very last moment, he knows how to win these key battles for supremacy. More so when the film is produced under his banner. He went all out against Saawariya in 2007 and then pulled out a last-minute victory against Balaji Motion Pictures when ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara’ was set to clash against ‘Chennai Express’. He’s a smart businessman and most of them who decided to take him on, have failed. Unless ‘Dilwale’ turns out to be a poorly made film, he should win this battle too. Eid 2016 and ‘Sultan’ will be his real test.
Q. What impact do you think the Intolerance statements by SRK and Aamir will have on the box-office of Dilwale. After Aamir’s statement I read some Whatsapp messages of people boycotting SRK’s and Aamir’s films. Dangal is still 1 year to go but with less than 1 month left for Dilwale, how big can the impact be? (question asked by a lot of people)
A. People have short memories, so Aamir’s Dangal won’t be affected. When it comes to ‘Dilwale’, there could be an impact on collections, but it would be difficult to put that in numbers. In a way, there is no such thing as negative publicity. The #AppWapsi campaign on Twitter and Facebook, where people posted requests to uninstall Snapdeal app. The result was, Snapdeal got plenty of publicity and sympathy, which eventually resulted in an increase in number of app installs. Its Google Play Store ranking shot up. So while we cannot give a clear answer on this, the negative impact is unlikely to be more than 5%.
Q. Can I know that if a film manages to collect good money in overseas, but failed to recover even budget in India, then what will be the verdict of that film?
A. If domestic distributors don’t recover their investment, a film is a failure, irrespective of how well it performs in the overseas markets. Apart from rare cases like My Name Is Khan, most films that do well overseas also perform well in India. Even for films that are extraordinary outside India, the share from the overseas business is not more than 50% of domestic share.

You fool, that was a fine move by Balaji to postpone the movie. In that way, at least they got few more screens (compared to what they were getting with clash with CE) and thus they got a decent opening.
Else, if you go by the poor content , then OUTAMID would not have been survived against CE, even for a single day.

It depends upon trailer of Sultan, which will be first between the two.

And for an instance, if I accept your words that he played some tricks to get a solo release, then what were you expecting from him? He was not an actor but was producer of CE as well and crores of his money was on stake and he would not have got any other favorable date then Eid as Diwale and Xmas were already booked.

HNY was one of the worst movie that I saw in my life. Why don’t he try Swades, CDI type movie again? My type of movies are normally thrillers and that space is occupied mostly by Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devagan.

After Bajirao mastani will watch Ghayal return jisne CHarli ki marli 2 baar, Indian vs Ashoka and Border vs Pardes.

There is no doubt that Dilwale will collect twice than Bajirao Mastani in first weekend and there is no doubt about that. But don’t know why I am confident that Bajirao Mastani won’t be a flop for sure. Whatever dilwale outcome is but BM will definitely able to find his audience and appreciation.
SLB has only delivered a bad film which was Saanwariya, all of his other films like Khamoshi,HDCCS,Devdas,black,saawariya,gujaarish,Ramleela. Whether his films been flop or hit except Saawariya, all his films has been appreciated.
Similarly goes for Rohit shetty too, Barring Sunday and zameen. All his films was appreciated by target audiences.
So interesting battle between Rohit shetty and SLB.
@ Challa MNIK could not be a hit in domestic if it didn’t performed that well in overseas. Its first phase was 86cr in overseas that able to recover all its cost along with domestic total. A movie which was atbb in overseas can’t be declare a average on boxoffice. Srk Kank and MNIK was declared clean hit in domestic market by trade because of their strong overseas performance. Otherwise both were practically not hit in domestic market.
Though I have no idea how Ra 1 declared a hit as its overseas business also wasn’t that great too.

Bajiro for sure is a better film in all aspects.. although am a big fan of shahrukh and always been..but I don’t think that Dilwale is anything but an entertaining masala film, unlike Bajiro which could be a high quality film, with a great story, great production, and it’s made for ppl with high taste.
Promotions, and lablah even the box office collections would never make any film which is bad as good.. we can say our feeling from the 2 trailers which we saw. Bajiro is a much better film for sure.. Dilwale looks stupid.. I don’t know why.. will wait till the 2 films releases then would compare the differences.
Anyway.. hope that the one which is best would make it at the box office too and ppl would do justice in expressing their opinions.. never be biased
