Q. What’s your expectation from Vivek Oberoi’s movie Bank Chor co-starring Ritesh Deshmukh. Does this film have any chance of crossing 100 crore at the box office? - Mritunjay Singh.
A. Too early to talk about Bank Chor as the trailer hasn’t yet released. Ritesh and Vivek’s last film together, Grand Masti, collected Rs 100 crore at the box office, but that film was a sequel and also had sex as its USP. Bank Chor will be a very different film from Grand Masti and for the film to even collect 70 crore+, the word of mouth has to be fantastic.

Q. Is there any chance of Baby getting 4000 screens in India?
A. No. The film is releasing on 2700 screens (approx), which is wide enough for a film that doesn’t have universal appeal like those big-budget commercial entertainers. Highest number of screen doesn’t necessarily mean higher collections, because if there is no audience for a film like Baby at a smaller town / village, the film won’t be released there. In fact, releasing a film where there is no market will result in losses for both distributors and exhibitors.
Q. Can the 335 crore figure of PK be broken by Fan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Rohit Shetty’s film with SRK or Tamasha in 2015?
A. It would take a special film with incredible word-of-mouth and perfect release date to beat the lifetime collections of PK. Fan has no chance because the film isn’t releasing during one of the three festive weekend. Ditto for Tamasha, Ranbir still doesn’t command the kind of following that Khans do at smaller centres. It will be difficult for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo too, as the youth might not take to the film in a big way. Out of all the film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and SRK-Rohit film have the best chance, but 335 crore is a good 100 crore more than the highest grossers of Salman or SRK.

plus its satellite rights are sold out to reliance at a whopping 160 crores( highest ever).
now multiply with first 4 day collections ( 25 crores+ expected atleast)….

I feel, In general quality of movies of has gone down in past few years except for a handful movies Bollywood is producing utter nonsense these days.
Coming back to breaking PK’s record, I don’t think any movie can do that in next one or two years atleast, unless the content the extraordinary. Below mentioned movies may challenge:
a) Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Opening week will record extraordinary collection)
-My early estimation says (235-260 cr.)
b) PRDP (Salman+SB a deadly combo @ the box office)
-My early estimation says (220-250 cr.)
c) SRK-RS next (Already delivered an all time grosser)
-My early estimation says (230-275 cr.)
Only dangal will break PK’s record before anyone breaks it. after dangal surely salman will break it. but first aamir will break it. for others no chance at all.

PK record wud only be broken when there is very good wom for a film but now a days in India very few people watch the film on theatre for example only 2.8 crore footfall for PK while 12 crore footfall for Dark Knight so if bollywood director make good movie like dark knight, Titanic, LOTR Trilogy then that movie will earn 500 crore domestically and bollywood would grow
It will none other than mr. perfectionist who will break the record of pk with his next film dangal or it could be sallu for prem ratan dhan payo this yr or hrithik for mohenjo daro.
