Wazir struggled on its opening day at the box office, even though business at select multiplexes picked up 5PM onwards on Friday. The film has collected Rs 5.57 crore on Day 1.
Like almost every multiplex-targeted film, Saturday will be extremely crucial for Wazir. The film has to show growth in the range of 25-30% or more, which would give it a fairly good chance of recording a 20 crore opening weekend.
Most of the business has come from major cities, but considering the fact that Wazir is the first big release in 3 weeks and that it has been given a wide release, there is potential for the film to show grow at centres where it was poor on Friday.
The word-of-mouth isn’t extraordinary, which is what films like Wazir need, to be successful at the box office.
#IndicineFBO: The first prediction of the year is off to a equally poor start. In the morning, it looked like an accurate prediction, but the film did pick up quite considerably evening onwards. Films that collect somewhere in the 5 crore range or less are difficult to predict because the margin for error is so small and the word-of-mouth comes into effect on the first day itself. Our prediction was Rs 4.4 crore and the actual collection is Rs 5.57 crore, the difference is 21%.

Film has done better than one’s expectation. And it is doing well due to class performance of Big B. He has really has carried the film on his shoulders with his towering performance.
Since ghayal has been postponed, wazir will have 2 open weeks before airlift and kkhh3 arrive. It can definately recover its cost and achieve hit status.
Am not yet convinced in watching it am waiting for a feedback from my one of my friends who is watching it today

These kind of movies are waste of time it should be like hollywood big movies big stars big budget entertainment rvery thing should be grand and for everyone not for these so called intellectuals
No worries,the prediction will start becoming accurate once the major films come into play..I have full faith in #Fbo..more than the accuracy what is important is that we get the perception as to what kind of number a film is looking to open.we knew that wazir was looking at a 4.5 crore opening and hence 5.5 cr. doesn’t come as a surprise..had it opened around 8-10 crore then the predictions would have failed..I believe many of us would also consider a 20% difference as fairly accurate for fims expected to open poorly or on an average note at the box office
@Ashish Thapar, agree. That’s the feedback that we get from the trade too. It gives them an idea what to expect from the film on Day 1, growth evening onwards is word-of-mouth dependent, which is impossible to predict.

Also I see a lot of negativity around Airlift on here calling it would do 80 cr at best. But guess what? Even if Airlift happens to do 75 cr business, it will be a hit! It isn’t about the box office every time, sometimes it’s about earning the RESPECT! A good film should be appreciated.

bhai mano ya na mano jab tak 3khan aur hr industry mein hai tab tak industry safe hai. In case, 3 khans nahi rahe ( sorry!!) toh industry bombed ho jayega. Some fanatic commented that boycott khans movies, bhai these 3 khans retire at the moment then south movies will do better than bollywood movies. I admit there will be some youngster will take place of these khans but time will take for that.

@iamBollywoodFan, agree. But 5.5 crore is still a poor opening. For example, we predicted 11.5 crore for Bajirao Mastani. It did 12.6 crore. But considering the costs, 12.6 wasn’t a good opening.
Only if a film shows big growth after a slow start and trends well, can we start being positive. Wazir had to open around 6.5 – 7 crore range, to call it a decent / good opening day. Also, our reviews or FBO have absolutely nothing to do with the box office reports that we write.
