Vote: Bollywood Movies in July 2010

There are several interesting movies lined up for release in July 2010, an important month for Bollywood which has lost several crores due to the failure of hyped duds like Kites and Raavan.

First comes I Hate Luv Storys directed by Punit Malhotra. The promos have successfully managed to create great buzz amongst the youth. The Imran Khan – Sonam Kapoor pair looks fresh and exciting. Produced under the prestigious Dharma Productions banner, the film releases on July 2nd 2010.

The much delayed Shahid – Kareena starrer Milenge Milenge is next. Dont expect much, should be a dud. Whatever little interest around the film is due to the lead pair, who may never be seen sharing screen space ever again. Milenge Milenge releases on July 9th, the same day as Red Alert – The War Within, a film starring Suniel Shetty, Sameera Reddy, Naseruddin Shah, Vinod Khanna amongst others. Red Alert is directed by Anant Mahadevan (Aksar, Dil Maange More)

Three medium to small budget films are scheduled to release on July 16th. Lamhaa, Tere Bin Laden and Udaan. All three films look interesting. Lamhaa has Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu. Tere Bin Laden is a comedy and the film has received support from none other than Salman Khan, who has recommended the film as a much-watch. Udaan is produced by UTV and Anurag Kashyap – should be good.

The biggest release though is the Akshay Kumar film Khatta Meetha directed by Priyadarshan which releases on July 23rd. The costs aren’t too high and should be recovered in Week 1 itself. A lot would depend on the way the film is promoted though, so far the hype isn’t too great. Their last effort De Dana Dan was disappointing and the film didn’t do too well at the box office either. Let’s hope this time around the Hera Pheri duo come out with a film worthy of their talent.

The last release for the month of July is Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, directed by Milan Luthria (Taxi No 9211, Deewaar). The film has an interesting ensemble cast – Ajay Devgan, Kangna Ranaut, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Randeep Hooda.
