Upcoming movies of Bollywood superstars in 2014 – 2015

Although movies like Gunday, Queen, Ragini MMS and Highway have fared well at the ticket window, there is a huge dearth of big ticket flicks in the first half of 2014. Apart from ‘Jai Ho’, the biggest stars in the industry will be giving the first 5 months of the year a miss.

While it gives ample opportunity to the new upcoming players in the game to make their mark and showcase their talent, it definitely does not mean that the superstars are slowing down. Factors like the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, T20 World Cup, lack of holiday weekends and the IPL could also be a few reasons why their films arrive June onwards.

Salman SRK Aamir Hrithik

What this actually means is starting from June 2014, there is going to be a flurry of event movies. All the big guns will start their respective fire-works and audience will be in for a big treat.

Below is a quick list of upcoming movies of Bollywood’s biggest superstars:

Aamir Khan:

  • P.K. (Christmas 2014): He started the 100 crore club with ‘Ghajini’, 200 crore club with ‘3 Idiots’ and 250 crore club with ‘Dhoom3’. He is the only member in the 3rd club right now but he is all set to take a real shot at 300 crore club with Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘P.K’. This is the most awaited movie of the year by a distance.

Salman Khan:

  • Kick (Eid 2014): Salman missed out on Eid’s release in 2013 but he is back this year with a huge film ‘Kick’. It’s helmed by Sajid Nadiadwala and has screenplay written by Chetan Bhagat.
  • No Entry Mein Entry (Summer 2015): Breaking free from his routine action movies, Salman will return to comedy with a sequel to 2005’s biggest hit ‘No Entry’. Anees Bazmee, who directed the original, will ‘direct No Entry Mein Entry’ as well.
  • Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo (Diwali 2015): Salman and Sooraj Barjatya have together given the industry its biggest hits of 80s (Maine Pyaar Kiya) and 90s (Hum Aapke Hain Kaun) . Their 3rd outing ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ was the biggest hit of 1999. Salman is yet again changing the genre by returning to family movies opposite Sonam Kapoor.
  • Kabir Khan’s next (Eid 2015): Salman and Kabir’s last movie ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ just missed 200 crore mark by a whisker. But the combo is all set to fire again on Eid 2015 with their next untitled movie to be produced under Being Human banner.

Shah Rukh Khan:

  • Happy New Year (Diwali 2014): ‘Happy New Year’ will be SRK’s 11th Diwali release and none of his previous Diwali releases have disappointed his fans. This movie marks the return of SRK with his blockbuster director Farah Khan after ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’.
  • Fan (Independence Day 2015): YRF and their fav hero SRK are coming together for the umpteenth time for Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Fan’ which will release during the Independence Day weekend next year.
  • Raees (Christmas 2015): SRK will be playing a local Don in Excel entertainment’s ‘Raees’ directed by Rahul Dholakia.

Hrithik Roshan:

  • Bang Bang (Gandhi Jayanti 2014): The rocking ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ pair of Hrithik and Katrina are all set to scorch the silver screen in Siddharth Anand’s slick flick ‘Bang Bang’. It’s a remake of Tom Cruise’s Hollywood film ‘Knight And Day’.

Akshay Kumar:

  • Holiday (June 6, 2014): A.R. Murugadoss’s first movie ‘Ghajini’ roared at the box office in 2008 and now he is back with his 2nd Hindi directorial venture ‘Holiday’ which is again a remake of his own Tamil movie Thuppakki.
  • Its Entertainment (August 8, 2014): Sajid-Farhad have penned the dialogues of some of the most memorable movies like Golmaal series, Housefull series and Singham. Now they are all set to direct their maiden venture with Akshay and Tamannah.
  • Gabbar: Gabbar is the remake of Tamil blockbuster Ramana. Akshay will be seen in beard for this movie opposite Shruti Hassan.
  • Jai Hind (Republic Day 2015): After the critically acclaimed ‘Special 26’, Akshay is back with ‘A Wednesday’ director Neeraj Pandey for Jai Hind.
  • Prabhudeva’s movie: Prabhudeva directed Akshay in 2012 blockbuster ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and the now the pair is coming back for the second time for an untitled movie.

Ranbir Kapoor

  • Bombay Velvet (Christmas 2014): Ranbir Kapoor in an Anurag Kashyap film will be something to watch out for. Anushka Sharma is the female lead and Karan Johar plays the villain. All good, the only problem is the release date. No film can afford a clash with P.K, irrespective of how big, who locked the release date first or who stars in it!
  • Roy: It will be a two-hero film, produced by T-Series. Ranbir will be playing the title role, Arjun Rampal has an equally important role to play.
  • Jagga Jasoos: Ranbir reunites with his Barfi director Anurag Basu. Expectations will be high. Jagga Jasoos will release next year.
  • Window Seat: Imtiaz Ali has signed Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for a journey based love story. There are reports that they plan to release their film on Independence Day next year, a date that Yash Raj Films’ has locked for SRK’s FAN.

Projects awaiting confirmation:

  • Rumor mills are abuzz that Salman will star in the next instalment of Bollywood biggest’s franchise Dhoom under YRF.
  • Hrithik Roshan, who walked out of Shuddhi, is considering Ashutosh Gowariker’s next directorial movie.
  • Aamir Khan is yet to approve the next directorial venture of Farhan Akhtar.
  • And there are plenty of rumours around films that Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor are considering too.

  • Salman khan has the best film line up.All 4 movies r looking different from each other and Salman-Sooraj combo can create another magic like ‘HAHK’ in 2015 also Aamir has ‘PK’ which probably will be the best film of 2014 as 2 genius r again coming together after one of the greatest movie of all time ‘3 idiots’.

  • Srk will win this poll as usual but again his movie will end up with 3rd or 4th highest grosser of this year after ‘PK’,’Kick’ and maybe even after Bang Bang,Singham 2,Holiday etc.

Waiting for P.K., No Entry Mein Entry, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, Fan, Raees, Bang Bang, Holiday, Jai Hind, Bombay Velvet, Jagga Jasoos.

  • HNY will do around 120-140 crore business as SRK is known for chasing Salmans Ready lifetime for 3 years with 4 films.
Fan/Raess will do around 80-90 crore, unless there is some Rajnikaanth cameo/tribute. SRK should not overact like always in Raess.

  • Very frankly, ranbir has the best projects followed by srk.i am waiting for
    1.bang bang
    2.pk
    3.holiday
    4.bombey velvet
    5.fan
    6.raees

  • salman’s line up is really impressive.. different genres good directors.. i quite like ranbir’s line up too.. salman n ranbir have the best line up.. srk n akshay’s line up looks mediocre.. aamir n hrithik have one big movie up their sleeve in PK n bang bang.. PK will be huge but not sure about bang bang though as knight n day was not that successful n got mixed reviews as well.. though it will open huge bcoz of hrithik kat pairing

  • @nipun
excellent listing I have to say. But I would put pk and bombay velvet before bang bang. ( I do know you are a big hrithik fan :) So am I )

    My List will be

    1) PK
    2)Bombay Velvet
    3)Raees
    4) Bang Bang
    5) Holiday/Roy
    6)HNY
    7) Windows Seat
    8) Kabir Khan’s Next

  • @aeeyy, I agree to you that Ravi Teja is a very good comedian. He hardly needs the help of the supporting casts to make a scene funny. Let’s see how Salman delivers it.
@Triniman, SRK looks most beautiful among them because the picture was a picture dating back late 1990s or early 2000s. Indicine used it to please guys like you….
    PK
    PRDP
    Kabir Khan’s Next
    Raees
    Bang Bang
    All Akki’s Movies
    Singham 2
    Action Jackson
    Bombay Velvet
    Window Seat

  • Salman and Akshay Kumar has the best films line-up in my opinion. Can’t wait for Salman Khan’s Kick….It will shock you all because you are underestimating it…

  • Salman has best line up.ranbir has better line up of films but I dont think they would faired well at boxoffice same with srk.hny would do well but fan and raees will be multiplex films so they wont be record breaking.

  • we use aamir fans theory of pulling in crowds
then sam worthington is the biggest crowd
puller because avatar is the highest grossing
movie of all times but that doesnt make him
bigger then tom brad johnny. you know what i
am saying. every sensible person would know
what i am talking about. crowd pulling is a game
of SRK and salman. Aamir’s job is to deliver
good movies. he cant make a movie successful
unless its grand in nature to begin with.
