Q. List of highest grossing bollywood movies in overseas markets - Farhan Haider
A. PK is the highest overseas grosser. It has crossed the 300 crore mark ($47 million) at the overseas box office alone. The only film to collect 300 crore (net) in India and overseas. The other major grossers are Dhoom 3 ($31 million), 3 Idiots ($26 million), My Name Is Khan ($23.5 million) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan ($21 million).
Q. Will the clash between Raees and Sultan happen? If not which film is most likely to come on Eid? – Rock
A. For now, both Yash Raj Films and Excel Entertainment have confirmed that both Sultan and Raees are scheduled to release during Eid 2016. It will depend on the makers of both films. There could be delays in shoot of Sultan, which could result in the film being postponed. Raees could be postponed too. Salman is at the peak of his stardom and the audience do come out in big numbers during Eid to watch his films. So both Excel and YRF have to sit together and work things out. If the clash happens and both films are liked, both will do well. If not, the better film will flourish and the weaker one will perish. However, a clash of two massive films featuring two of the biggest superstars, won’t be beneficial to anyone except websites like Indicine.
Q. Who is the biggest superstar of the country today? – Vipul Sudan
A. Salman Khan. There is no arguing over this at this point in time. Undisputed No 1 in India and challenging SRK and Aamir in the overseas markets too.
Q. What is the prediction of Brothers and it’s buzz? – Sachin Jha
A. Akshay and Sidharth have started promoting the film, so the buzz will increase in the next few days leading upto its release. Three dialogue promos of Brothers was released last night, two of them highlighted the ‘family’ and ’emotional’ angle in the film. That should help attract the family audience, because they don’t really like watching intense action and blood.
Q. Any chance for BB to beat PK. How is it holding up today (3rd Sat) – Miz
A. It has picked up today, occupancy for morning, noon and evening shows was higher than yesterday. Beating PK will be difficult now. Release of a film like Drishyam and lack of an extra week, as compared to PK, has sealed the fate of the clash. Unless there is a miraculous growth today and tomorrow, PK will remain the highest grosser. Also, Drishyam is carrying positive word-of-mouth, so business of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is certain to be affected.
Q. Who is the actor that is consistent in his whole career? – Aniel
A. We have answered this question several times before. It’s Shah Rukh Khan. To give you an example, he’s not doing too badly currently, but is still considered to be going through some sort of bad phase. In the last 5 years, none of his films have fallen short of the 200 crore mark worldwide. Even though Salman and Aamir are way ahead in terms of blockbusters and all time grossers in the last 5 years, it’s not a record that even they can boast of. Note: Both Jai Ho and Talaash didn’t cross 200 crore worldwide. Also note that they didn’t release during the festive period.
Q. Who are the three stars who can deliver 300 Cr movies in India – Ashok
A. Great question. The three stars are Eid, Diwali and Christmas. Plus content.
Q. According to your site, a mystery thriller like Talaash which was released in 2012 earned Rs 14.52 crore (first day collection).
Screen count:2500. Now Drishyam which belongs to the same genre (thriller) has earned Rs 6 crore according to you. Screen count:2350. And ticket price is obviously higher than Talaash as Talaash was released in 2012.. Now my question is..is this the genre due to which such movies cannot make huge money on its first day? Some haters were saying that Mr. Perfectionist has no stardom and Rs 14.52 cr is very low – Jazick
A. Aamir Khan is one of the biggest and by far the most respected superstar in the industry. Period. There are a lot of people we know, who do not watch Hindi movies, but only watch Aamir Khan films. When Aamir does a film, it’s expected to be nothing less than a masterpiece. He has carried that burden of delivering a classic each and every time for more than a decade and has incredibly successful. He has been intelligent too. If he does too many off-beat movies like Talaash, he will lose out on his fanbase. So he does one not-so-commercial film like Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, Talaash or the upcoming Dangal and then follows it up with an out-and-out commercial entertainer. Each time he comes on screen, he gives you something different. People come out in big numbers to watch every Aamir Khan film. If this isn’t stardom, fan-following and respect towards his acting and movies, then what is?
Q. Akshay Kumar or Ajay Devgn, who’s the bigger star today? – Babaji Ka Thullu
A. Akshay Kumar. Trade knows it, everyone knows it. Because with an Ajay Devgn film a decent / good opening isn’t guaranteed. A 6 crore opening including paid previews for Drishyam is way below the mark. Irrespective of genre and competition, it should have taken a better opening.
Q. Is Kabir khan doing a film with Hrithik and Katrina? Or it is just another rumour? – Rahul
A. Kabir Khan always wanted to direct Hrithik. He has confirmed that they are discussing a script, which could be made into a film. During Bajrangi Bhaijaan promotional period, Kabir told us that he plans to take a break after the release of Phantom and then decide which film to do.
Q. Wazir and Hera Pheri 3 will release in December or not? – Saptarshi
A. Wazir is confirmed for theatrical release on 4th December. Stars Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar. Hera Pheri 3 won’t release in December.
Q. Please create a list of 2015 movies on basis of word-of-mouth. Prashanth Yadav
A. It’s difficult to rank films based on word-of-mouth. Tanu Weds Manu Returns showed better trends than Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but that was only because TWMR didn’t feature a male superstar. It relied on word-of-mouth. Bajrangi Bhaijaan had a superstar plus word-of-mouth, so it took a huge opening and then sustained well. These two films, along with Piku, are the best word-of-mouth films of 2015.
Q. Which is the best film of Saif Ali Khan both comercially and critically. – Luv
A. Omkara is his most critically acclaimed performance and film. Unfortunately, it didn’t do too well at the box office. Kal Ho Na Ho is probably his most acclaimed film, both critically and commercially. Solo films, it would be Love Aaj Kal and Hum Tum.
Q. List of Akshay Kumar’s 100 crore worldwide grossers?
A. Quite of few Akshay Kumar movies have ‘grossed’ 100 crore worldwide. Singh Is King, Housefull, Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Holiday, Baby, Gabbar Is Back, Tees Maar Khan, Special 26, Entertainment, OMG! Oh My God. I hope we haven’t missed any. It doesn’t take much to gross 100 crore worldwide. Even with 65 crore net collections from India and a bit of contribution from overseas, films do over 100 crore worldwide. 200 crore worldwide is what a film from a superstar should do. Only one film has crossed 200 cr worldwide for Akshay and that’s Rowdy Rathore.
Q. Who will beat PK’s lifetime collection? Aamir, Salman or Shahrukh? – True Actor
A. Even with extraordinary word-of-mouth and two open weeks, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is likely to fall short of PK. So it would take a lot more than Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh to break PK’s record. Apart from featuring a big name, a film has to receive universal acclaim, has to have a favourable genre and ideally 3 open weeks at the box office. Even one extra holiday in between will make a big difference to the overall total. If there is a clash between two films, like Dilwale vs Bajirao Mastani or Raees vs Sultan, absolutely no chance for both films. Maybe in 2-3 years time, when there are more screens across India and higher ticket prices, it would be easier. But by then, Rajkumar Hirani will be ready with his next film.
Q. Is the news Hrithik and deepika doing a Yash raj film Thug… true? – Rumii
A. From reliable sources: Hrithik is yet to sign the film.
@ sky — you are confuse between actor and supertar. what do you think how many people are fan of aamir in india? more than salman? only 1-2 bilion peoples watch movies in theater so only box office can’t give us a judgement of an actor’s fan following.

Raju Hiranis next is not with Asmir but with RK so I dont think that film will break PKs record.
Aamirs next Dangal itself may not be record breaking but if it has a commercial feel to it like the whole ROCKY background/ underdog feel to it then it could appeal to the mass audience.
In next few yrs I feel after BBs success that only Salman Khan in a out n out commercial flick with chartbuster music n holiday release will break PKs record. Honestly speaking had BB released on EID then instead of 26cr it would have collected 46cr n that 20cr extra would have been the key ingredient.
Aamir will no doubt come back n reclaim his record but that wont be until 2017 earliest or 2018 but as of now he hasnt given any indication as to what his next project will be.
I really hope complan boy can read n understand Indicines answer in regards to Asmir khans fan following- in simple terms complan boy Aamirs fans are not just restricted to following him on Youtube platform but follow his latest movies inside theatres too…!

BB will overtake MNIK & become the 4th highest overseas grosser of all time by the end of its run!
2. Eid 2016 is some good 45 weeks away and by that time many things can change but again it is highly unlikely that India’s biggest superstar salman’s ‘Sultan’ & srk’s ‘raees’ will clash with each other , one of them will either postpone or prepone their movie in their best interests, as much as 1000 crores is riding on both the movies and so clash may not be the best option, if clash happens then it would be a potential loss for both the movies more so for srk & his ‘raees’ as a potent & lethal combination of salman & yrf would prove too much for Excel & srk.
If we take everything into consideration Salman+yrf+Eid is the most preferred choice by a distance not only for the legion of fans but also for the entire bollywood industry and unless & untill ‘sultan’ fails to complete its shooting in the given time there is no way we can expect ‘sultan’ to get postponed, so any which way its upto salman & yrf.
3. Undoubtedly salman khan is the biggest bollywood superstar in india when it comes to sheer fan following & mass popularity!
4. The buzz for ‘Brothers’ is surely picking up and in all probability it may take biggest opening for any Akshay starrer.
5. The chances of BB going past PK’s domestic collections are very less, we can say that it has almost run out of gas chasing PK’s collections, nevertheless it could collect as much as 325 crores or more by the end of its glorious run.
6. well consistency can be both subjective & relative , it is too easy to say that srk is the most consistent but not necessarily in both, if u closely analyse his career he debuted in 1992 with ‘deewana’ playing a second fiddle to rishi kapoor and his first hit as a solo lead came with baazigar in 1993 (after giving 4-5 flops in a row since his debut), so we can technically say that his career actually started in 1993 after giving 4-5 flops in a row after his debut, got a major boost with ‘Karan arjun’s’ success (though ‘karan arjun’ in 1995 was a BB it was as much a srk film as much as it was salman’s) & after Karan arjun he gave 3 flops in a row and then gave his 1st ATBB as a solo lead with DDLJ in 1995 which actually catapulted him to super stardom, so technically speaking he became a superstar in 1995 because of DDLJ & after that gave a string of 7 flops & under performers till ‘pardes’ (One of my all time favorite movies) & ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, after a huge flop in ‘dil se’ he gave another ATBB with KKHH in 1998 and then after a string of flops & under performers & a multi starrer hit ‘mohabbatein’ he gave 2 flops in a row before another multistarrer hit in KKKG . After 3 hits in Devdas (another multi starrer), ‘Chalte Chalte’ & Kal Ho Naa Ho’ he bounced back with the biggest disaster of all time ‘Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke’ lol :D.
Again after a hit & superhit he gave 2 flops in a row with ‘swades’ & ‘paheli’ and then remained very consistent with 2 back to back hits & 3 back to back BBs till the flop ‘billu’ came (not don’t say billu was not a srk movie, billu wouldn’t have been possible without the presence of srk, can’t imagine billu without srk ,as simple as that ) and then a string of hits till now, so if we observe closely srk is not really that consistent to be consistent enough!
And not to forget that most of srk’s hits or better have been either with top production houses or have been multistarrers of the top actors, so his success is a kind of diluted & over rated. He became a superstar after 3 years & 10 movies after his debut
Aaamir was inconsistent in the early part of his career but since ‘raja hindustani’ he has been the most consistent in terms of critical & commercial success. so a superstar after 8 long years, the slowest among the khans to attain superstardom but probably the most important of them all.
Salman has been relatively inconsistent when compared with the two but since Dabaang he is another name for consistency as far as commercial success is concerned, became a superstar with his very 1st movie as a solo lead , the fastest among the khans.
so saying that srk is the most consistent since his debut is foolishness and he too has faced many flops & disasters both in critical & commercial aspects, so srk being termed the most consistent star will always remain a matter of dispute when he clearly is not consistent enough to be called as the most consistent!

U said it will take 2 to 3 years to break pk record,i believe if BB was released chiristmas BB would have been near 350 and if pk was released during Eid 2014 it would have done around 300.Dont forget eid fell on saturdat not on any weekday and day after eid fell on sunday so it couldn’t benefit from 2nd day of eid.it did 27 crores on 3rd day of eid so imagine what would have it done on 2nd day of eid if eid was during weekdays .what u think would b collections of both the films if we exchange release date of both films with each other?

7. Aamir, salman & hrithik are the 3 stars in decreasing order who can deliver 300 crore grossers in india (Aamir has the biggest domestic grosser/s (pk & D3), followed by salman (BB will certainly cross 300cr) and then Hrithik (244 crores, with or without manipulation is up to the individuals :D), but for that they need to release their content oriented movies during major festivals period with at least 3 open weeks.
8. After the mega success of 3 idiots, aamir took a lot of time to come up with ‘taalash’ and there was a tremendous amount of expectation (as usually associated from any aamir starrer ) but since it was of a different genre releasing during non-holiday period it couldn’t do the business it was expected to still it was a decent grosser & a semi-hit in india.
On the other hand Drishyam is ajay’s low profile release after a heavily marketed flop ‘action jackson’ and anyway it wasn’t expected to open big, so 6 crore opening is not at all a suprise and it is also true that thrillers like ‘taalash’ & ‘drishyam’ can’t be expected to break box office records in india & collect huge because of their genre, they are handicapped by limited audience they have for such kind of movies.
10. Akshay is slightly a bigger star than ajay, akki has more mass following than ajay & the producers also view akki to be more bankable than ajay for certain reasons.

BB has the best wom followed by TWMR & piku, TWMR was a sequel of a super successful film & though BB had the biggest bollywood superstar not many expected it to have as good a content as it actually had , if not for Baahubali & drishyam now, BB would have had the best trends for any movie this year but nevertheless no ifs & buts and all the 3 movies did tremendous business mainly because of +ve wom.
17. Before BB many felt that it would take another 2-3 years for any movie to even come close to PK let alone beating it, BB inspite of facing tough competition from Baahubali & drishyam & with fewer holidays and with just 2 open weeks was competing neck to neck with pk & was even ahead for most part but again the lack of holidays & no open week meant that PK would remain unbeaten.
PRDP releasing this year has a good chance to beat PK’s domestic collections provided its content is as universally accepted as BB & doesn’t face any major competition from other releases, as for other movies its almost out of reach.
PK’s overseas & worldwide collections though will remain undefeated for another 2-3 years or so!

Aamir has got both Padma Shri(3rd highest Civilian honour) in 2003 and Padma Vibhushan(2nd highest civilian honour) in 2010.
Aamir got Padma Shri 2 years before SRK.
SRK only has Padma Shri in 2005. He hasn’t got PV. Then they call him ‘King Khan’! ??

Ajay Devgan is national award winner whereas Akshay never achieved this award. Ajay Devgan gave 32 crore opeing whereas Akshay never cross 16 crore opening. Ajay Devgan have 5 movies in 100 crore club whereas Akshay have 3. So how so u say that Akshay is bigger than Ajay ?
