Jai Ho continues to be the highest first week grosser at the domestic box office in 2014. Akshay Kumar’s Holiday started slow, but picked up towards the end of the week and even managed to beat Jai Ho on Wednesday and Thursday.
Gunday and 2 States take the 3rd and 4th spots respectively.
While films like Humshakals, Ek Villain and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania are scheduled to release in the next 30 days, only Salman Khan’s KICK has a realistic chance of beating Jai Ho. Kick would be targeting 130 crore+ in its first week at the box office.

Inspite of being Salman’s least promoted film of last 4 years Jai Ho is still on top. It will remain on top till this Eid.
Holiday was a really good film but it was not gritty. The climax when soldiers leave by train with their families is so manipulative and forced emotion. It could have been done more subtly and poignantly. Overall 3.5/5
Akshay,s next Its Entertainment will be flop for sure.But then he has good films lined up.Hope for best.
Now Emraan & Ajay is coming on August with Singham Returns & Raja Natwarlal. Both will be hit.

looking at akshay’s upcoming movies the future too does not look promising. all will be in the range of flop, below average, average, above average. at best he can deliver hit. forget superhit, blockbuster and all time blockbuster. these are way out of reach for akshay honestly. making and breaking records is out of question for a akshay movie, lets not talk about it. realistically only housefull 3 has the chances to make it big at the boxoffice. though still it would be superhit at best. akshay fans need to realise he is no khan trio, hrithik or ranbir. they have some really unrealistic hopes from akshay. they try to compare and compete akshay with the top league and fall flat on their faces. please realise that akshay never belonged to that league. and again i would like to say that akshay was never a superstar and never will be. wait for films like kick, hny, bang bang, pk and bombay velvet and you would know what a superstar means. the debate among srk, salman, aamir, hrithik and ranbir fans is who is the bigger superstar. but the debate with akshay is that is he a superstar? srk, salman, aamir, hrithik and ranbir’s superstar status has never been a question. they are superstars. even their haters know that.

But Krrish3(130cr) couldn’t break the record of CE, then later Dhoom3(184cr) broke the previous record and currently holding the record.
OK.
@Babaji : May be Dhoom3(184cr) will be unbeaten this year, but I think KICK and BangBang have little chance to beat this first week record.
