Top 10 First Monday Box Office Collections of 2014 films

    The superhero

Kick has made me a fan of sakman for the first time in my life.so here’s a small tribute to bhai of bollywood who has created a niche for himself among all the superstars

1 Box-office Badshah: Shah Rukh may be the Badshah for all seasons and every other reason, but when it comes to box office, there’s no beating Salman. The blockbuster man has as many as six films in the Rs 100-crore club — Ek Tha Tiger to the two Dabangg films, Bodyguard to Ready and Jai Ho. Such is Salman’s superstar clout that even friend Aamir Khan — who has two films in the Rs 200 crore club (3 Idiots and Dhoom:3) — has gone on record to say that he can “never match” Salman’s “raw, brute power” at the box office. “He’s the real number 1,” Aamir says of Salman. Who can argue with Mr Perfectionist?

    2 ROBINHOOD PANDEY:

Like no other actor can nail Munna Bhai better than Sanjay Dutt, no one else can make Chulbul Pandey as deliciously brazen and delightfully unpretentious as Salman. From the Rajinikanth-inspired flick of the RayBans to the back of the collar to the bone-breaking yet laugh-out-loud fight sequences, Salman’s corrupt cop with a heart of gold (“dil se bulbul aur dimaag se dabangg”) in the Dabangg films has become an icon of modern Bolly cinema.

3 V FOR VERSATILITY: Devoted son (Hum Saath Saath Hain and Baghban) to passionate lover (Tere Naam and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam), street-smart slicker (Judwaa and Hello Brother) to husband with a roving eye (Biwi No 1 and No Entry), angry not-so-young man (Wanted and Jai Ho) to soft romantic (Jaan-E-Mann to Bodyguard) Salman slips effortlessly into every role. The best bit? He plays Salman in every film. And like SRK is Rahul, no one but Salman can be Prem.

4 DANCE LIKE EVERYONE’S WATCHING: From his facial moves in Munni badnaam hui — our eyes were more on Salman’s face than on sister-in-law Malaika’s bootylicious butt — to the towel dance in Jeene ke hai chaar din from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, from the ‘Po-po’ steps in Partner’s Soni de nakhre to the Dhinka chika moves in Ready, Salman is the only star who can carry off the most atrocious dance steps without looking ridiculous. And yes, he makes them a rage too — Puja pandal to nightclub floor.

5 MAN OF MANY (CHEESY) WORDS: Like his dance moves, the cheesiest dialogues rest comfortably on Salman’s lips. Who else can say, “Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di toh main khud ki bhi nahin sunta” or “Gulab jamun se yaad aaya, Tiwariji aapke hernia ke operation ka kya hua” with a serious face? Or who can pull off an utterly embarrassing line like, “Itni chhed karenge ki ‘confuje’ ho jaaoge ki saans kahan se le aur paade kahan se?” but Salman and make us hoot and whistle every time he says it? The Sallu line from Kick we are tripping on currently: “Aap Devil ke peechhey, Devil aapke peechhey… too much fun!” Pure gold.

6 SUPER-MAN: “Salman bulldozes through every logic,” Aamir had told in the run-up to the release of Dhoom:3. The man can make you believe almost everything he does on screen: from hosing down a gang of goons with a water pipe in Dabangg to stopping a speeding tram by flicking his coat on the overhead electric lines in Ek Tha Tiger (top), Salman promises entertainment — often at the cost of logic — in his films. His best so far? The 10-seconder in the Kick promo where Salman as Devil cycles right in front of a speeding train, lets go off it at the last minute and casually walks across as the train hurtles past him (above). We are booking our first day-first show tickets just for that paisa-vasool moment.

7 BENJAMIN BUTTON: Aamir’s looks are on a constant see-saw while shahrukh is looking charming as always but Salman only seems to look better with age. He had us at that sexy French beard in the Kick trailer.

8 SHIRT OFF!: Hardcore Bhai fans sometimes sit through an entire film for that moment when the man takes off his shirt. Wolf-whistles and catcalls greet every Salman shirtless moment — better still when it is ripped off his body by his bulging muscles as in the climax of Dabangg . Do you remember how the audience went mad when he casually took off his tee simply to change into another in Ek Tha Tiger?

9 Plex to single screen: From the hawai chappal to the Jimmy Choo, Salman’s the only Bolly superstar to bridge the gap between multiplex and single-screen. Which other star can make berserk fans in suit and tie stand up on their seats and dance as they did in Calcutta multiplexes during Dabangg and Ek Tha Tiger?

10 Salman the virgin: Bolly’s best looker. A long list of girlfriends, past and present, including the best of Bolly beauties from Ash to Kat. Yet at 48, Salman claimed — with a straight face on Koffee with Karan even as KJo choked on his cuppa — that he’s a virgin. Can anyone else but Salman say something like that and make us love him even more?

  • I hav nevr seen a disgusting boy/girl like “BULLI”….and indicine u also find it entertaining na…I knw @bulli whose Fan U are,, but @indicine dont U find irritating wen post his comments whereas in many cases,, I hav seen U taking actions to those who hav been such irritating activities irrespective of whose FAN they are

  • @incidine
Post a comparison of krish 3 and kick as both released in pre festive ,boasted their collections in festive holidays after weekend………So a long list of excuses can b avoided if we make comparison with K3…………………Kick cannot be comparable with dhoom as it trended exceptionally now comparison with CE should be of total ist week as CE got Eid in it is ist day but kick got it on tuesday….the plus factor for kick is number of screens also the fact that it is not clashing to any movie(CE clashed with a big movie)……..So it would be a fair comparison between kick and Krish 3…………………As i personally think that releasing movie on a pre festive season is very helpful for movie collection….It can collect about 80 cr (for big movies) before actual festival…….It can hinder all single days records but lifetime os surely better than releasing on mid week festival

  • it wil collect 150-155 crs in its first week n is bound to cross 200 crores unless something terrible happens.
Havnt watched it yet… wil go today.
navin uncle’s review was nice.. babaji’s too was good.
howeva now even I feel the same abt nipun dat he search foh logic in each film xcept of hrithiks.
@Megha ur brain works fine na.???
I think u hav some serious problem to tackle… so ma earnest request to u..plz stop reviewing movies as it wil save us from mentle torchuring dat we suffer while reading it. .

  • @js, krish3 collected 179cr not 175cr…….lol.

@sss, i said HATERS ki fatne wali hai… Tera kyu fat raha hai?
