15 medium to big budget Bollywood movies have released so far this year and 6 films have recovered it’s investment (including Table No 21 which is not mentioned in the list below).
Race 2, released on 25th January (holiday for Id-E-Milad), collected Rs 14.5 crore on it’s first day, which is by some distance the biggest opening for a film in 2013.
Surprisingly, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola opened to a better response than Akshay Kumar’s Special 26, which competed against ABCD Anybody Can Dance on it’s opening day.
Amongst the major releases, Matru Ki Bijlee.. has been the biggest disappointment of the year so far. The other films, which were expected to do well, have done decent business.
With the Khan’s and Hrithik Roshan missing from the first half of the year, the second half of 2013 is likely to be HUGE for the film industry. Films like Chennai Express, Mental, Krrish 3, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (May 31st), Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, Dhoom 3 and several other biggies are scheduled to release later this year.

Akshay is responsible for Special 26 not getting HIT status,because of his 30-35 crs acting fees which increased the budget of the film,and then he couldnt get a good opening for the film which is expected from a A grade star.

The reason Dhoom 3 is at top Bcoz of its big franchise plus aamir plus yrf plus action plus holiday. . And ett record will be broken only by Dhoom 3 and mental rest no chance krish will miss Bcoz of non holiday or pooja. . .

its amazing how these trade pundits include ranbir’s yeh jwaani hai deewani in list of upcoming big films of 2013 but they have no idea that there is a certain sunny deol teaming up with his lucky director anil sharma and coming on eid with ‘singh sahab the great’ besides in ‘yamla pagla deewana 2’ forming the deol trio once again after hits like ‘apne’ and ‘ypd1’ and his 1st double role in action-comedy masala film ‘bhaiyaji superhit’ later in the year. The ‘dhai kilo ka haath’ will wreck havoc at the box office this year.
Also no shootout at wadala in the list.
Waiting 4 Dhoom3 it will break all d records.
Boi allways gives fals data after the release of ett. Boi says ett collect 185cr but etc bollywood or bollywood hungama says 199.5cr. Even big difference for jthj and sos collect 102cr and 87cr acc boi but other site says 122cr and 105.5cr. And every award fuction and the times of india conciderd last year 9 films in 100cr club but boi says just 8 film. Race 2 is 100 cr film everyone and midia and the times of india or hundustan times and producer and distributer of race 2 says but boi says its not 100cr so now boi collection are not so valueable after ett release

first khiladi 786-70cr and now special26-65cr. Though both films are hits but not as big as akki’s solo hit rowdy, mutistarrer housefull2 and even OMG where he was in supporting role. Im afraid OUATIM2 will bear the brunt of being a flop coz of big budget and dual release with ‘singh sahab the great’ (no date finalised yet for chennai express or salman’s next so im not counting those two for eid)
