‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ has performed extraordinarily well on the big holiday for Independence Day. The film has collected Rs 20 crore on Tuesday, to take its 5-day total to Rs 83.45 crore.
Multiplex business in major cities showed growth of around 35-40% from Monday, but it’s at smaller centres and single-screens where the film showed phenomenal growth. Some centres in UP more than doubled from Monday and it’s these centres that are expected to drive the business of the film in the next few days.
Today will be the first weekday for the film. Multiplex ticket prices will be down to weekday rates and this should bring the business down to single-digit (less than 10 crore) for the first time since the release of the film on August 11.
The collections (not occupancy) in the morning shows are showing an average drop of around 38-40% from Monday, which should mean business in the 7-8 crore range today – depending on how the rest of the day goes.
‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ is the 5th consecutive box office ‘hit’ for Akshay Kumar, it’ll also be five 100 crore grossers in a row. The hold today and the growth over the second weekend will decide the lifetime business of the film.

Zuheeb, It also depends on budget. Both YJHD and BM did 175+ business but they were big budget films. This one has been made on 18 crores only…after all business depends on profit ….
Dear..more than budget its depend on Distributors share (profit) these days…and I don’t see TEPK distributors profit ratio bigger than HindiMedium dist profit ratio….by that ‘Ratio’ logic hindi medium should have been declared first blockbuster tag…but even that film got only SuperHit Tag…

I saw it last night, it’s a bit long in the second half, but the film is giving a good message to the villagers who have certain belief… and that’s the purpose of this film.. well done.
I am very happy with performance of TEPK. My early expectations before release were 120-125 crores LT. that would have made me happy but this just takes me to cloud nine.
A movie made at budget of 18 crores is going to cross 150 crores in India ! People comparing Akki movies should also understand he did 5 movies in 18 months. It is difficult to bring in audience every time for your movie when you do so many movies. Most Indians still don’t earn that much ! So if his every movie does above 100 crores that I consider brilliant. This will actually do 150 crores !
Another thing at end of the day the idea is to make industry including exhibitors and distributors successful. Akki ensures steady revenue to exhibitors. I am not belittling mega budget movies but that require years and Akki usually finishes a movie in 50 days
He already has 4 movies lined up next year that’s the pace at which he works. He will have 2.0 padman and gold release before next movie of Srk .. so one needs to understand where he plays and how he works
I really hope the streak continues. 2.0 should be a safe bet and hence padman and gold needs to work. I want Akki to have 10 100 crores as a streak in just 2.5-3 years. That would be amazing

Wednesday is so far good. Going towards a 8.5 crores finish which will take the collections close to 92 crores. Not bad. If somehow it picks in the evening and we get a 9 crore finish, 100 is a real possibility in first week
I had given my weekly analysis in the previous article of indicine after 1 day od release where I had mentioned the weekly breakdown of how it would collect 150 cr..its all coming true…it now seems indicine is biased towards srk….a big budget movie with a big director and a top leading actress will always open big ..so 13 cr by akki is much bigger in scale than 15 cr by srk…srk is finished now…even his next 3 movies need to be back to back blockbusters which will never happen…struggling to touch even 100 cr now

Im a a big aksahy fan but I miss some of his comedy movies he used to do like garam masala, bhool bulaiya, deewane huye paagal etc he doesnt make those type of movies those were the movies I became a fan. I want him to do more comedy hes best at comedy.
