Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ will release during the Post-IPL period next year. The social satire, which is based Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan (cleanliness drive), will release in theatres on 2nd June 2017.
It’s not exactly the first Post-IPL release as Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend will get the first advantage as it gets a release similar to ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ last year.
The IPL begins on April 5 and ends on May 21 next year.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher.
The IPL-end releases next year are as follows
- Half Girlfriend – 19 May
- Toilet Ek Prem Katha – 2 June

Bollywood Actors and directors are very clever. They know Indian people becomes very emotional on topics of religion and country. Recently, Akshay is trying to cash on patriotic emotions. Directors know how to earn millions of money by stoking patriotism.
It’s not that they are more patriotic than common people like , they just produce what is sold most.

This man badly needs a kick in his ass. Always hiding behind one particular genre until it gets over the top and starts becoming flop. For example, in 1990s he was doing c grade bhojpuri ttpe of films with brainless action stunts, then they started flopping and he tested comedy. Then did some multistarrer comedies for 8 years in 2000s decade and gave multistarrer hits here and there, then it became over the top and finally he started doing some masala craps when they became popular, then he succeeded only once or twice and rest all flops and disasters and now he is hiding behind patriotic genre. Shame shame. Do something different and get out of this one particular shell.

So late news indicine waiting toilet Ek prem katha this will be huge grosser for akki . We all bhakts will defiantly watch the film is about Narendra Modi campaign Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan houseful kar denge .
I guess the story of the movie is something like this:
Akshay and Bhumi love each other and get married. After getting married Bhumi gets to know that there’s no toilet in Akki’s house. She leaves the house for her dignity and tells Akki that she’ll only return when he makes a toilet in his house. Rest of the movie will show Akki’s struggle against the corrupt government to make a toilet in his house and get his wife back home. That’s why I guess it’s titled Toilet Ek Prem Katha.
It’s just my guess, so don’t take it seriously.
@ mynamar we akkians never worried about film will release between Ramadan or not nobody can stop this film to become hit , no need to worry one community wont make difference to film collection .
I think Toilet should have released after Crack. 2 back to back satires Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet will look repetive. And if Half Girlfriend gets positive WOM then it will get the Post IPL advantage, not Toilet.
