The Dirty Picture has exceeded expectations at the box-office, collecting more than Rs 8 crores (early estimates) on Day 1 in India. The opening is bigger than last week’s release Desi Boyz starring big stars like Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone.
Business at single screens is super strong and the occupancy at multiplexes was good too. A small drop is expected on Saturday, but Sunday collections could well touch 10 crores. Weekend business could be on-par with biggies like Singham and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
The Dirty Picture is the biggest opener for Vidya Balan and also Emraan Hashmi, whose last film Murder 2, collected Rs 7 crores on it’s first day of release.
The good start and with the word-of-mouth being so positive, The Dirty Picture could well go on to be the fourth blockbuster of the year after Ready, Bodyguard and Murder 2.

well well.. I think I’ve taken a bad impression about this film! reviewers r praising it.. praising Vidya Balan’s performance and some says that it’s not as sleezy or sexy as it looks from the trailer.. it’s a good story with good performance by VB.. let’s see if I wl watch it or not.

I watched it online.. it was as I expected to be.. a story about a vulgar actress.. all ppl in this world whether they were good or bad would defend themselves in whatever they do.. even a prostitute would defend herself when she sells her body or try to show a good side of her character.. anyways.. it’s a sexy film done by a sexy actress who doesn’t deserve any award for this film.. any woman who never cares about her reputation or doesn’t mind if her family, dad, mom, borther, sister watch her in these dirty scenes on screen.. would agree to do such a film! Vidya Balan is one.. or money matters and fame is all what she cares about.
I never liked her.. I just liked 2 of her roles.. in Parineeta and Paa. she deserves to be banned.
Good movie is always good whatever the genree,it is the best movie of 2011.

While Vidya Balan’s acting was pretty good, there was really nothing so great about the story line. Its the same as what most wannabe acctresses face. There was really nothing dirty about Dirty picture. I think Fashion was much better story wise, although I understand this was based on a real life story. But even so, its nothing to shout about. Dezi Boyz was much more entertaining. I guess the Dirty Picture was only successful because most men went to see thinking that there would be alot of sexual scenes as that was the impression given by the producers, but really, there was nothing that is not in other movies.
