Tanu Weds Manu Returns Box Office Collections: Set to be first 100 cr grosser

Tanu Weds Manu Returns has done the unthinkable at the domestic box office on its first weekday. The Monday collections of the film was a little more than its Friday business, even though the ticket prices at multiplexes was about 20-30% lower.

What’s more, the industry finally has a runaway blockbuster after nearly 6-7 months of epic disasters, flops and films that just about managed to recover costs – with the exception of PK, which was expected to be a major grosser anyway.

The outstanding collections on Monday has also pretty much ensured that ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ will be the first 100 crore grosser of 2015. While expected 100 crore grossers like ‘Gabbar Is Back’, ‘Baby’ and the expensive ‘Bombay Velvet’ have fallen short of the mark, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, a film made on just Rs 31 crore (including print and advertising), has exceeded expectations.

The big advantage for the film is that it has one more open week at the box office. Also, the ongoing IPL season has now ended. So the benefit that ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ was likely to get, will now belong to ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. If it sustains well in Week 2, then the film could even cross the 125 crore mark!

Kangana is ahead of them lolz…

  • @Arjun youngistaan::: Why is Mohit Suri there twice??
Add Shoojit Sarkar in ur list..he’s a wonderful director.
And Karan Johar is overrated, bring him down.
Then there is Dibakar Banerjee with films like khosla ka ghosla,Shanghai,DBB….

And you forget Imtiaz Ali too..

  • So Kangana Ranaut delivers the first blockbuster of the year. People had expected Bajrangi Bhaijaan to become the first blockbuster of the year. Congrats Kangana & the director Aanand L Rai.

  • Tanu Weds Manu 2..
    My rating 4/5

One of those movies where the sequel is better than the first part.. Kangana Ranaut and Deepak Dobriyal run the show with their comic timing.. Madhavan and Jimmy Shergill ably support them.. Zeeshan Ayub also acts superbly in a small role as the scheming pervert lawyer Chintu..Swara Bhaskar is also good..

Credits to the editor who has designed it in such a way that it moves in a rapid pace without wasting much time.. Anand Rai is a genius director who captures the spirit of North India very well.. Dialogues will definitely make you laugh..music blends well with the story..

Overall a hilarious family movie with few social messages delivered along the comic lines.. Don’t miss it..!!!
