Tamasha has collected Rs 38.23 crore in its first weekend at the box office, making it the 8th highest opening weekend of 2015, ahead of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and behind ‘Gabbar Is Back’.
The film took a slow start on Friday morning, but picked up towards the end of the day. On Saturday, Tamasha showed excellent growth in business. But the Saturday level is where the film should have opened at, which meant that a big jump was again required on Sunday. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the Sunday business of Tamasha was just 7% more than Saturday.
The costs are on the higher side, so it remains to be seen where the film goes from here. It would require a strong hold on Monday, somewhere in the 6-7 crore range, to have any chance of recovering costs in the long time.

Preety average collections. I hope it somehow become a average grosser. It shouldn’t be flop for Ranbir Kapoor.
BTW in last two day I have seen 2 of Ranbir films which I have not seen till then Rocket Singh and Raajneeti.
People who question Ranbir talent and calling like Media made star, not versatile and doing only rom-com etc etc. You will come to know how talented and versatile he is. Specially Rocket Singh he was outstanding in that movie.
In the span of 3 years Ranbir has done movies like Saawariya,Bachna aye haseeno, Wake up Sid,Ajab prem ki ghajab kahaani,Rocket Singh,Raajneeti and Anjaana Anjani.
Later did Rockstar,Barfi and yjhd.
If we look his first 5 year of career, Ranbir has been become a improve actor with his each movie whether in comic,serious,confused,romantic or physically chalanged he did every kind of role efficiently.
One thing is certain that Ranbir is extremely talented. His movie might not performed well in recent time but it will be his talent who will make him bounce again.

Bollywood needs actors like Ranbir,Ranveer and Varun to give success as they can’t be rely only on khans,Akshay,ajay more. Even hrithik is very selective.

I saw this movie yesterday, it’s really boring, Ranbir always choosing boring, only songs are good bakwaas movie of the year, I’ll give movie rating 1.5/5
Please note that Tamasha opened in only 2000 cinemas, far less than many of the seven who were ahead of it……Perhaps we should add a new column, that of average per cinema. IT has done well in the USA and will end up as being categorized a hit or better.
