Tamasha is performing very poorly at the domestic box office, as the film has dropped yet again on Wednesday. The trend is very poor, even compared to a film like ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ which collected Rs 4.48 crore on Wednesday, as compared to Rs 3.32 crore of Tamasha.
The film is now looking at a lifetime total of around 65 crore. It’ll be Ranbir Kapoor’s third consecutive failure after Besharam and Bombay Velvet. As for Deepika Padukone, it’ll be her first commercial failure in 3 years. Apart from Finding Fanny, which was a low budget off-beat film, her winning streak including films like Cocktail, Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Ram Leela, Happy New Year and Piku.
Tamasha, which was made at nearly twice the cost of Piku, will end up collecting about 20% lesser.
Even in the overseas markets, the business of Tamasha has dropped after a good opening weekend.

It needed to collect Rs 100 crore to be a profitable venture, but by the end of its run, the film would struggle to cross the 75 crore mark – making it one of the biggest disappointments of 2015.

its not fair @indicine. You are saying tamasha should collect 100 crore to be profitable. Btw, tamasha collection is already above 80 crore including overseas collection and it will make 100 crore worldwide. So how can u say its a failure?
@Shelly, the distributors / producers would only get 50% of the share of collections. The share is even lesser from overseas. So 100 crore collections (India net + overseas gross) is not good enough for Tamasha.

n stop calling ZNMD classic.. it was vry similar to hangovr slow paced . whole senario was gud bt it could be a lot more funny both dialogs n twist. plus climax was underwhelming.
Proud of Ranbir for doing such uniqu e film, romantic film with psychological twist. BV was a brave attempt, only class actors can do that.
He is talented actor and a star as well, Akki is neither.
Ranbir is bigger and better than talentless Akki anyday, and I am proud of him.
Box office collections are not a big thing for me. HNY is much better than Tamasha.

A film made on a budget of 70-80 crore gets only a 2000 screen release itself shows the sorry state of affairs amongst the exhibitors who are not willing to give this film a wide release.even before sunday,monday or any weekend or weekday trend,the fate of tamasha was sealed even before its release when only these 2000 screens were booked..not surprised at all seeing these collections as Ranbir has lost the trust of a large chunk of his audience after doing poor films in recent past
