Salman Khan reigns supreme at the box office yet again as Sultan made history on its opening day at the box office, recording one of the highest single day collections in the history of the Hindi film industry. As per early estimates, the film has collected Rs 41-42 crore on Day 1.
Wednesday was a working day in several parts of the country and holiday in a few others. It was also the day before Eid, so business was affected at a few circuits. The impact of ‘Pre-Eid’ isn’t huge for other films, but for a Salman Khan starrer, the dent is quite significant.
Factors aside, the film would have probably collected around Rs 47-48 crore on a big national holiday like Diwali or Independence Day, with an outside chance of even becoming the first film to cross the 50 crore mark. In fact, Sultan would have probably achieved a near 50 crore total if it released on Eid holiday.

Yash Raj Films’ has officially confirmed that Sultan has released on 4352 screens, making it the widest ever release for a Hindi film in India. The film has performed well across the country too, from east to west, north to south.. every centre was strong, barring a few muslim-dominated areas.
Sultan has already become the 8th highest grosser of the year on its first day. The Ali Abbas Zafar directed film has collected more than the lifetime business of films like Wazir, Ghayal Once Again, Azhar, Kya Kool Hai Hum 3, Jai Gangaajal, Rocky Handsome – all trounced on Day 1 itself.
The next two days promise to be equally exciting as the muslim section of the audience, who are now used to watching Salman films during this period of the year, come out in huge numbers on the Eid holiday and the day after Eid. Films like Ki and Ka, Udta Punjab, Kapoor & Sons and Neerja will be left behind on Day 2. There is also a chance for Sultan to beat FAN in 2 days flat. For this to happen, the film will have to perform on a high level on Thursday too and the trend will also give a more clearer picture on the word-of-mouth.

It was just not a film but an event, celebration and cinematic experience. Hardly do people get to watch everything in one: laugh, emotion, romance, realistic action,motivation and entertainment. And that rare cinematic experience is called Sultan.
Sultan is a story of a common man who dreams big and works hard to earn respect before his loved one because the loved one humiliated him for having no ambition in life.
Sultan is a story of a common wrestler who aspires to bring gold medals for his country: India. And he successfully manages to achieves this.
But when that common wrestler achieves successes, he becomes rather arrogant. And worse, he considers his arrogance as self-confidence and a successful person has right to do so or should behave so.
And he follows the path of successes so blindly that he forgets other crucial aspects of life, i.e. personal life.
As the luck would have it, he soon faces a downfall in his life and everything in his life gets shattered. He gives up his wrestling life.
He has lost all his glories and had to live an ordinary life.
And he fights back for what he has lost his life. He fights for redemption but in a different field, in the field of MMA. That’s never easy path though. Tough and more dangerous challenges ahead!

Some points:
– Salman excels in his character. He has largely underplayed his larger-than-life image just like in Bajarangi Bhaijaan. With these two films, unlike what his critics say, he has proven that he can act brilliantly when required.
-Anushka Sharma shines in every scene and is pitch perfect for the character.
-Amit Sadh and Randeep Hooda Rocked.
-Music and Background Scores suit the theme of the film very well.
-Fight scenes were well choreographed and well blended with emotions and aspirations. Many may compare them with Brothers fighting scenes. But that are bound to happen since the themes of fight sequences in the second half based on the MMA Sport.
-Eye-captivating cinematography and the tight screenplay.
-The only negative point is its length. The editing should be crisper and the film should have been shortened a bit.
-Nevertheless, one never feels there is a dull moment in the film.
Audiences were clapping and whistling. It is extremely engaging throughout the movie.
-And last but not the least, Ali Abbas Zafar is a next big thing in Bollywood. He has mastered it. He deserves the credits where he is due.
-Obviously, the film has tremendous repeat value. Go for it. Do yourself a favor.

We have seen earlier also on long weekend salman movie collect big but after that the collection goes down. May be it will go maximum around 180 to 190 crores

Above average to good movie-
Family Entertainer and Watchable for Salman with emotional quotient in the movie. Second half could have been more crisp. It has a message and heart at its right place. Did’t had much expectation from Ali Abbas Zaffar but he did better than expected. Haters like sss and akki fan, don’t spread the negativity just because Salman fans did the same during FAN or other movies releases. This will hurt our industry only, where Hollywood has dominated bollywood this year. The movie deserves the wide release during the festival release and i am glad that excel and SRK postoponed the release since Raees looked to have a dark theme and had Raees release there would had been crunch of screens booking and bad blood between old friends and that would have led to more fan wars which we should avoid.
