Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’ has collected Rs 25.22 crore in its first weekend at the box office, even though it did not open well on Friday. Both the critics and audience have unanimously praised the film.
Actor Irrfan Khan, who was one of the three lead actors in ‘Piku’, says the response is a win both for the audience as also for a filmmaker who knows how to entertain and engage with a difference.
“THANKS to all for the success of @PikuTheFilm. Feeling Great full, hopeful, beautiful and so light. It’s the victory of the audience and the new film makers who wants to engage audience on a different level” Irrfan posted on Twitter on Sunday.
‘Piku’, which stresses on the camaraderie between a father and daughter, is endearing for the honesty with which Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, along with Irrfan, have slipped into their respective characters.

I don’t want to write a long review as it’s already been 3 days since its release!
All I can say is.. Shoojit Sircar’s Piku is a sweet movie just like its title, which contains brilliant performances,a well-written screenplay,pleasant songs and genuine comedy!
There are so many lovely moments in the movie. My fav scene is the one where Bhaskor(Amitabh Bachchan) moves around Kolkata with a cycle and brings all the samosas,jalebis etc for his family.
The 3 characters are amazing and you will root for them after watching the movie.
Piku ends in a very simple manner .

The whole hall was filled yesterday.. All the tickets have been sold out ,so I had to buy the lower seat tickets.

PIKU was awesome movie i watched this Saturday and really enjoyed the movie, Amitabh and Deepika a father and daughter relations was awesome, Irrfaan was also good.

the big opening weekend of this film was due to Irfan and BB not Deepika as many claims…Deepika is probably the most overrated actress I ave ever seen.

Reason behind the success of piku is star cast. There are two big stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika in this film. Irfan is also well known face in India and music of the film is also good.
Till date only low budget films like baby, DLKH, and piku are done well.
