Student Of The Year First Week Box Office Collections

For a film starring newcomers, the first week business of Student Of The Year is outstanding. And that would be an understatement, as the Navratri period, until now, wasn’t considered the best time to release a big-budget film.

SOTY opened well on Friday, picked up on Saturday and Sunday, with first weekend collections of around 27.5 crores. It  sustained well over the weekdays and benefitted hugely from the Dusshera holiday on Wednesday.

Detailed Week 1 box office collections

  • Day 1 (Friday) – 8.25 crore
  • Day 2 (Saturday) – 9 crore
  • Day 3 (Sunday) – 10.25 crore
  • First Weekend – 27.5 crores
  • Day 4 (Monday) – 4.5 crores
  • Day 5 (Tuesday) – 4.5 crores
  • Day 6 (Wednesday) – 6.5 crores
  • Day 7 (Thursday) – 3.5 crores

Student Of The Year Week 1 collections – Rs 46.5 crore nett

Impact of new releases this week: Chakravyuh released on Wednesday and had little or no impact on SOTY. Ajab Gazabb Love releases today. A film starring Jackky Bhagnani directed by Dhoom director Sanjay Gadhvi. Since it’s unlikely to open strongly, Student Of The Year is likely to remain the first choice, unless the word-of-mouth for Ajab Gazabb Love is good.

Stay tuned for all the box office updates.

  • Watched it today for second time and enjoyed it more than first time! As usual, Karan Johar’s films the more u watch.. the more u like, I remember when I saw Kal Ho Na ho for first time I said: it’s a good film but while watching it over the years, I just loved it and considered it as his best film. SOTY is not any different
