As many as 5 Hindi films are scheduled to release this week – Junooniyat, Raman Raghav 2.0, 7 Hours To Go, Shorgul and A Scandall. None of these films are expected to get a initial.
Vivek Agnihotri’s Junooniyat and Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0 are the bigger films, but the business of both films combined is unlikely to cross the 4 crore mark.
Expected First Day Box Office Collections of this week’s releases (these are not predictions, we do not post official IndicineFBO for films that are expected to collect less than 2.5 crore):
- Junooniyat – 1.25 crore
- Raman Raghav 2.0 – 1.5 crore
- Shorgul, 7 Hours To Go and A Scandall - Few lakhs (should be less than 0.5 crore)
We also have the Hollywood film ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’, which is not only expected to take a good start, but also beat the combined business of all Hindi releases.
‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ is releasing in English (2D, 3D, IMAX) and Hindi (2D, 3D). The show allocation at multiplexes is the highest for the Hollywood film this week, followed by Raman Raghav 2.0 and Junooniyat.
Last week’s release Udta Punjab will be the biggest competitor for Anurag’s own film (directorial, this week) Raman Raghav 2.0. The trend hasn’t exactly been excellent for Udta Punjab, so it remains to be seen how well the film holds on its 2nd Friday. It’ll cross the 50 crore mark this weekend.
Housefull 3 collections were down to very low levels this week. The film will finish with 108-109 crore of business.
The first quarter of the year started on a promising note, but the second half has been disappointing with big films like FAN and Housefull 3 under performing.
All this while the trade awaits the boss.

Independence day 2 shall open bigger than all those movies added together! WS will be missed though.

collections will be huge here in chennai. maybe in kerala collection will be low but who cares even your state own movies are struggling.

@Team Indicine, isn’t it a bit unfair to put Housefull 3 and Fan in the same category? I know both have underperformed, but Housefull 3 was atleast a clean hit.Infact,if anyone has managed to keep Bollywood afloat this year,it is Akshay. Please let me know if I’m wrong though!
