Singh Is Bling Day 1 (Friday) Box Office Collection Update

Akshay Kumar’s latest release ‘Singh Is Bling’ has opened very well at the box office on Friday. The morning shows in North India took the second best opening of 2015. The occupancy was way ahead of every other release this year, except Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

The advance booking was good in circuits like Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan, Central India.. and these are the centres that opening very well on Friday morning.

‘Class’ circuits like Mysore and West Bengal recorded poor occupancy in the morning, which was expected since most Akshay Kumar films have received a lukewarm response in these circuits.

The other south circuits were affected by Vijay’s Puli, which has received poor reviews, but continues to remain the first choice on Day 2. Apart from Puli, Singh Is Bling also had to share screens with Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, which has done exceedingly well in its first week and hence retained more shows than expected.  The other release of the week, Talvar, is carrying incredible reports too.

Like most Akshay Kumar films, both the mainstream media (which includes critics) and social media have been unfairly negative. Baby was probably the only exception, but a entertainer like ‘Singh Is Bling’ was never expected to achieve critical acclaim. The response from the audience varies from mixed to positive, is what exhibitors say.

7PM Evening update: Singh Is Bling is looking at opening day business in the 17-18 crore range. Mumbai circuit has picked up after a slow start in the morning. There are also reports that single-screen business in the North has shown slight drops after a strong opening in the morning. The film will be competing with the big T20 cricket match between India and South Africa, which is scheduled to take place at 7PM today. The impact of the cricket match could very well decide if the Day 1 total goes higher or falls lower.

Stay tuned to Indicine for updates!

  • Thank you Akki for entertaining us and admiring your early movies to date. Not that easy to sustain so long. My humble request is why not you take a Break or call it a day in acting very soon with heads still up if not even if its hard to admit but fact is you are far more than these new boys giving big opening like you. Your target should be aiming to match up with the khans roshans devgaans esp with huge banners of recent , high budget movies and now more holidays released for you but you don’t capitalize on them. Leave these slots for varun rs sid and rk. You will still be appreciated no matter what . Just a suggestion but looking at it in the reality aspect very true.

  • Some guys here r totally Stupid .
Indicine team iz bang on nd some idiots r not liking it .
TWMR was released in 2100 screens , tht iz y it didn’t managed 10 plus , same with SIB ..it has released in below 3000 screens, even D shows r less while beshrm got huge screens nd shows …! Occupancy vise SIB has opened much better then beshrm .
In cities like punjab, Delhi,up bihar.. the occupancy was even better then bzrngii .

Now don’t be illogical , c D Situation of SIB first then talk about D collections it should have done on first day .
I hope indicine will compare D screens too with beshrm . Because 4 WB, they said it released in less screens compare 2 brothers .Also twmr nd abcd2 screens was compared with gabbar .

  • There r many Ppl here who was like brothers released in more screens then WB nd ABCD2 bt now they r not talking about screens ….2 much gum 4 haters

  • As was predicted a couple of days and the trend that was witnessed last morning, Singh Is Bliing has taken a very good opening at the Box Office. The film started well and stayed on course through the day, hence collecting around 20.67 crore on Friday.
The momentum could well have carried on late in the evening and night shows as well, which could have propelled collections in 22-24 crore region. However, the T-20 cricket match in the evening did hit the collections a little
