Shuddh Desi Romance has collected Rs 6.75 crore on its opening day at the box office. The film, released on approx 1100 screens, had very little face-value, but the trailers worked big time with the youth who thronged to theatres to catch the film first-day-first show on Friday.
The Sushant Singh Rajput – Parineeti Chopra starrer opened to around 30% for the morning shows, picked up to around 45-50% occupancy for the noon shows. Night shows at places were running to 80-85%. The response was pretty good even in smaller cities.
Even though the film released on fewer screens compared to the other release this weekend, Zanjeer, the opening day response to Shuddh Desi Romance was much better than the Priyanka Chopra – Ram Charan Teja remake. The film is the biggest opener for Yash Raj Films’ this year, as their only other release, Aurangzeb, collected Rs 5 crore on its first day.
The box office battle between the two Chopra sisters has a winner. Parineeti it is!
Zanjeer telugu version thoofan collected 14 crore net in south india so winner is priyanka chopra.

Haven’t watched any of the two. .heard from some guys that sdr is very nice.and one of my friends who went to watch told me that zanjeer is also superb.
I am hearing Shuddh Desi Romance is being liked much more than Chennai Express. Why not, it doesnt have the overactor SRK in it.

Shuddh desi romance is total bakwaas,no story,just has few good moments,it will go same like Aashiqui 2.I did’nt understand what was going on in 2nd half,very confusing.
These kind of movies work only due to love couples.
Expected so much,got nothing,very disappointed.
