Shamitabh Day 4 (Monday) Collections: Crashes at the box office

Shamitabh is yet another addition to the growing list of flops in 2015, as the film has crashed almost all over on Monday at the box office. We reported late last night that the occupancy had dropped by around 30% in the morning and noon, but when the collections of the evening and night shows came in, they were equally poor.

When the start on Friday is poor, a film has to hold well on Monday to have any chance at the box office. But Shamitabh has dropped by 50% from Friday.

The Amitabh Bachchan starrer has collected Rs 15 crore in 4 days and should finish with lifetime business of around 20-22 crore.

Shamitabh Box Office Collections

  • Friday – 3.5 crore
  • Saturday – 4.75 crore
  • Sunday – 5 crore
  • Monday – 1.75 crore
  • Total – 15 crore

Verdict – Flop

  • Cost of tickets are very high so people are not spending money for small starcast movie because they dont wanna spend 200 rs for amitabh and dhanush
They want big star like king khan and salman khan
I hope theatre owner understand and price of tickets making in budget in mango people
and specially for good movie without any star they do not hike prices

  • People complain of overdose of Masala movies but when such unconventional movies are made they rather watch them in their PC’s.Sad truth

  • This is saddening.. Had a great weekend as Sholay was on tv sunday night n last night I showed the family Coolie- its important the next gen of bollywood fans know how big BIG B was in his prime. I will still watch Shamitabh but its sad to know audiences of today are not appreciating the legend that is Big B… Paa was an amazing performance n I hear in Shamitabh Amit ji again put in another riveting performance. We must enjoy our legends while we can…

  • @indicine Humari Adhuri Kahani book named ”All that could Have been ” is releasing 25 february. Mohit suri n mahesh bhatt will launch it. Thank you. And congo to 5 saal Kejriwal.

  • People in India will never appreciate a good and original movie. They are all star struck no matter how much crap they churn out.
They movie has flopped for sure but it is a victory for real cinema.

  • @bluffmaster who the hell are u to criticize the great BIG B,huh?at first tell ur fav actor to become a fraction of him, then cmnt.

  • The main reason for each films getting flopped is the Ticket Prices which are highly Exorbitant. Even for this film the average tkt prices being 200-300rs on weekends. I mean, how the normal public would ready to pay such amounts for each movies? They can watch the Top stars’ films by paying such amounts since they release very films in the year and people don’t mind. The ‘Exhibitors’ are the ones who are solely to be blamed because of such prices nobody comes to watch the deserving films. Prime examples being Madras Cafe, D-Day, Mardaani and now Shamitabh. Now, its high time Distributors and Producers introspect these things and there can prevail a more subtle way of ticket pricing!

  • I feel happy now as ive been vindicated..bad films will not do well and im the best critique of bollywood,.now it has been proved

  • Indicine Can You Give me A Answer . You Said That Baby will not fetch more then 15-20 cr from satellite rights . nd dats y film cannot be called a hit…But If the film makes 25 from satellite rights then you will call it a hit ?? bcos it will easily get 25 cr or even more bcos oll akshay movies get awsm TRPs..Nd baby toh wse v boht fame pa chuki h…..So Don’t change ur view by saying this…u said 90 then hit so sick to dat criteria .

  • @Ajinkya how do you know Ranbir is nothing without Surname Kapoor? Have you been to another alternate Dimension where his last name is Khan or Roshan or even Singh and all his movies has flopped. So he is media-created star, how do you know that without media he will be giving flops?

  • @Pokemon, good joke, but Amitabh was written off in the 1980s and the guy is still kicking butts of those who criticised him. He is way to above for your silly comment.

Coming to the topic. Is it just me, but i felt the promos were not up to mark.

And, yes, someone pointed out correctly, the ticket prices are way too high.

Yeah, it has Amitabh, but then it is not the conventional entertainment movie. Exhibitors are obssessed with making maximum money that they oversee such simple things.

The makers should have gone for a limited release with exhibitors puttin up lower ticket rates. This would have capped the budget and brought in more viewers, who would have lapped it up with good word of mouth.

  • Karan Johar’s troubles over the controversial “AIB Knockout” roast seem to be escalating. A leading Web site has revealed the latest setback: Salman Khan has taken offense to the show and has ticked off his “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” director, even threatening to walk out of his film “Shuddhi,” which has been jinxed since Hrithik Roshan exited it some time back. “Shuddhi,” is being produced by Johar, and directed by Karan Malhotra.Incidentally Salman had starred in the 1998 “Kuch Kuch…” that was produced by Karan’s dad Yash Johar and had marked the young director’s debut.Eighteen years before that, Yash Johar hadalso made his debut as producer with “Dostana” co-written by Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan.A close buddy of Khan is said to have told the Web site, “Salman doesn’t entertain or tolerate any kind of ‘chichorapan’ (cheapness) in public. In public his conductis impeccable.”And Khan was livid when his sister Arpita was named at the Roast even after some offensive portions were removed from theshow when edited for YouTube. Ironically, Khan’s Being Human Foundation was one of the beneficiaries of the proceeds of “AIB’s” live show.Khan reportedly called up and gave Johar Jr. a piece of his mind, stating that he found all the humor distasteful and unacceptable. He also threatened to walk of Karan’s new film.At the moment, Khan does not want to hear anything about Johar or his film. Interestingly, Arjun Kapoor, one of the co-hosts, was once going steady with Arpita and after their break-up, Arjun was reportedly also persona non-grata with Khan, who is a close friend of Kapoor’s father Boney Kapoor.Disclaimer: We respect your thoughts and views!
