On Tuesday, the Mumbai police decided to provide protection to Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan after his friend and business partner Ali Morani faced extortion threats from gangster Ravi Pujari.
There were reports that five rounds were fired outside Morani’s Juhu residence on Saturday. After the incident, police fear that the Bollywood superstar might be Pujari’s next target.
“Morani and Khan are close friends and we suspect that Ravi Pujari may attack Khan also. So we are providing two officers for his protection” a police officer from the crime branch told reporters.
On Saturday, at around 10:30pm, three people in a bike fired four to five rounds of bullets outside Ali Morani’s residence Shagun located on 9th road Juhu and fled. A police officer said, “The bike that came from Juhu circle direction sped towards Juhu police station area. Two security guards were on duty at that time. Atleast three rounds were fired from one of the assailants which hit the trunk of a tree, glass pane of the building and the bonnet of a BMW car parked inside the building.”
Noone was injured in the incident. A source also added that Morani wasn’t at his residence when the bullets were fired.
A crime branch official said “We have received information that Morani had a call from Pujari hours before the shooting, which he did not answer. After the firing, Morani’s daughter received an SMS from Pujari briefing about the incident and threatened Morani of dire consequences.”
Strange how fans who once belittled security personnel as nothing more than mercenaries after the Wankhede Incident 2012 are now saying not 2 but 2000 security personnel should protect king with their lives…
