Shaandaar is turning out to be one of the biggest disappointments of 2015 and the second big failure for both Dharma Productions and Phantom Films this year – after Brothers and Bombay Velvet.
The trend over the weekend is shockingly poor as Shaandaar took a decent start on Day 1 (Thursday), showed a huge drop in business on Friday. But since the film was targeted at the multiplex audience, there was hope that Shahid Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer would pick up on Saturday and Sunday.
Unfortunately, the film has shown further drops in business on both days. The occupancy on Saturday night at high-end multiplexes was poor throughout the country. Sunday had the added disadvantage of the day and night match between India and South Africa, which also happened to be the series decider. However, even without the cricket match, the film wouldn’t have collected much more than it did.
Shahid’s last film ‘Haider’ collected Rs 26.79 crore in 4 days at the box office. The collections of ‘Shaandaar’ are better, but Haider was a niche genre and was competing against a massive film like Bang Bang. R.. Rajkumar collected Rs 35.8 crore in 4 days, with a normal release and just one holiday (Sunday).
After back-to-back successful like Student Of The Year, Highway, 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Alia Bhatt’s dream run comes to an end.
Shaandaar now runs the risk of finishing below the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. The occupancy on Monday was poor, a drop of around 75-80% from Thursday.

- Thursday (Day 1) – 13.1 crore
- Friday (Day 2) – 7.55 crore
- Saturday (Day 3) – 6.75 crore
- Sunday (Day 4) – 6.1 crore
- Total 4-day weekend - 33.5 crore

Vikash Bahl gave a cult super hit like Queen with a unpopular actress like Kangna withou the support of any big male actor. He cast Shahid in his next film n this follows. ??
Jokes apart, the director is the biggest culprit. Pata nahi kya pee ke film banaya. Shahid n Alia was so-so.
It means the lifetime collections is expected to be lesser than PKPN2
Feeling sad for Shahid.Was hoping the movie to do well just for him.But it should be a learning lesson for Dharma who have been giving us the same kind of romcoms in the past few years and Phantom which was supposed to revolutionize Indian cinema now has given us 2 back to back flops(which didn’t garner any critical acclaim too)

I don’t mean to be rude, but Shahid Kapoor has never been a star. No matter how much the industry and trade continue to talk about him. Fact is the audience never really took to him. The numbers show it.
This year is not so good for film industry and movie lovers so many flops and disasters..2014 was great year i hope next year will be better in terms of entertainment.
I wonder why did Alia sign this film. She was on a great run. Shahid’s history hasn’t been too good, so it was inevitable from him.

Feeling so bad for Shahid . Expected this movie to work for him. But it failed big time . But Shahid shouldn’t worry since he is a good actor & have his 2000% in this movie too . Everyone praised his acting but all the faults goes to the director for making such a crap .

Last year Shahid was talking about fudging of collections by some senior actors, he said that they are fooling themselves.
Now his situation is such that even if Shaandaar’s collections are fudged , it would still be called a FLOP. He should consider working as a box office analyst since he knows so much about fudging of collections.

Highway was not successful indicine..it was just avg…but realy shocked with shandaars collections..i even think that tamasha will also flop..
actually it was sanah kapoors film so she will be affected by its failure….shahid and alia had very little to do.. so the films collections are appropriate for a pankaj Kapoor and sanah Kapoor film
