Satyagraha First Weekend Collections and Monday Update

SatyagrahaSatyagraha has fared well in its first weekend at the box office. The film was expected to open better than it did on Friday, but business picked up by around 16% on Saturday and 14% on Sunday to take its first weekend total to Rs 39.12.

According to UTV, Satyagraha released on 2800 screens, which is about 10% lower than one of 2013’s biggest grossers Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer collected more than 60 crores in its first weekend. While comparisons with YJHD are unfair because of the genre of the two films, the opening of Satyagraha on Friday (30-35%) was way below expectations.

Which makes Monday extremely crucial if the film has to recover its investment. Morning shows were down considerably on Monday (from Friday), noon shows have picked up slightly. The film is likely to collect around 6 crore net on its first weekday – could be more or a little less depending how well the evening and night shows perform.

Please check the bollywood history maximum percentage of Record breaker or blockbuster movies are mindless craps . Positive content movies are collects less everytime on bo. For example please check this years good movie , only bhag milkha bhag did 100cr buisness … Other excellent movies collection like special 26 and Madras Cafe both are under 100cr and the history also same .   • Its unfortunate & a shame that such a good movie has collected less and the most ridiculous idiotic useless garbage called ‘cheap/chindi/ crap/chichora express’ has overdone more than double business of what it actually deserves. Shame on chindi express & shame on crap haklu khan

  • cinema means entertainment what dis picture styagrah is all about ?we all saw in the news for almost one & half year why should people pay for some bais movie . so not every so called railistic films are always good

  • The marketing was very poor.

    Don’t know why they don’t want to market a product. This is the age of marketing, and until unless you market it is very difficult to get profits. Only one in a thousand would work without much marketing.

    They have so many big stars and hardly any marketing. They should have taken a theme or idea to make it look more interesting for people to come and see what it was.

    Well, it is easy to say all this when something fails, but if a totally out of context and vague movies like Kai Po Che can work, it is important to note that if marketing can be beneficial for them, it will maker wonders for a good product.
