Satyagraha has collected Rs 11.21 crore (official figure from UTV) on its opening day at the box office. The film started slow on Friday (35%), but picked up for the evening and night shows.
The first day business is below-the-mark considering the fact that Satyagraha had a strong star cast and released on around 2700-2800 screens across the country. The film has fared well in Delhi, Gujarat / Saurashtra and Rajasthan, but struggled in other parts of the country. The opened poorly in Mumbai, Mysore, Punjab and other parts of the country, but didn’t show enough growth in business later in the day.
The reports are decent, but the morning shows on Saturday had slightly lower or similar occupancy as Friday. The film is likely to collect around 35 crore in its first weekend at the box office.
It may suffer from next week, as two films are releasing next week. Lifetime collections will be 80 crore.
How is the star cast strong? Amitabh sir is 70, and we all know how the indian public don’t watch movies unless the male lead is below 50 and woos a 20-something girl.
Ajay, who is a marvelous actor, hasn’t had a hit since SOS, and we all know he must do brain dead masala crap to rake the moolah at the BO.
So there is no huge star cast. The indian public rather watch crap like Chennai Express and such than real movies.
Thats very bad for Indian cinema and also for our country.Thats why our country in trouble . Baseless , useless masala , unrealistic romantic movies turnout as blockbusters on other hand Realistic and Positive content movies troubles to get even hit status at the boxoffice have pottential to create some power amongs youngsters of our country to give some fight against the dirtyness of our county and corruption … Anyway bo collection no matters … Good Movie turntout as a real blockbuster .

Worst movie i watch pathetic go and watch outimd is way better than it .nothing new in this film same we see on news channels when anna hazare does it so why we pay for this .

watched Satyagrah last night i must say it is a good one must watch for every one though it is not perfect movie but definitely on of the better movies of this kind of zoner.
pluses: Amitabh,Ajay and Manoj Vajpayee, Raghupati songs, direction
minuses: ajay-kareena romance portion, some boring scenes, little short climax
with this movie BIG B proves yet again that y he is called as Star of the Millanium, no word to describe this power house in the age of 70 he is still at his best, biggest strong point of the movie. rightly said”Rishte me to hum sabke baap hote h Naam hai BIG B”
Manoj vajpayee is excellent, Ajaya is very good, Arjun Rampal is good while Kareena is not so impressive, amrita is ok
direction of prakash jha is first rate though it could be better but for this kind of movie it can still satisfactory
i agree with Indicine rating of 3.5 because this movie definitely deserve a watch because the subject is strong and superb perfomance by BIG B, Vajpayee and Ajay.
i totally disagrre with critics who r saying that movie not given any solution of the problem, i want to ask a simple question to them is the solution of recent political environment and corruption is simple?
if a movie maker or writer are intelligent enough to provide solution than there is no need to make film better they will enjoy as a MP in parliament, still they had given a solution in the movie that to make better political and corruption free environment it is necessary that India’s youth should join the politics. gandagi saaf karne ke liye gatar me utarna padta hai.
its stupidity of critics that when movie like ce,ETT,dabangg etc comes they are given low ratings bt for a good movie they r giving the same rating to them which deserves better. i agree that this is not a 4/4.5 star movie but it is definately a 3.5* movie. go for it you won’t be sorry tfor this.
P.S.: thanks god that after not so impressive review i had not give u my curiosity to watch the movie and i m happy that i watched this one…..
@megha too funny, Amitabh is a reason to movie flop but he is still the Star of the millennium, still powerful enough so that you are here on his movie page to criticize him when he is 70yr old. he is biggest star of the country and whether you agree or not it doesn’t affect much to his stardom and definitely much bigger actor than your favourite though i don’t know about whom you like…..
