In just one day, Bollywood megastar Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has surpassed the weekend business of films like ‘Gabbar Is Back’ (which had one partial holiday and one full holiday), ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, ‘Baby’ and several others films.
There are other staggering facts. The lifetime collections of Shaandaar (which collected Rs 42 cr) has been destroyed on Day 1 itself. A big-budget film like ‘Bombay Velvet’, which finished with 25 crore lifetime, was trounced by around 6PM on Thursday, with more than 30% of shows still to go!
The collections were also two times more than the second day business of Brothers and first day business of Singh Is Bling – both released on national holidays.
These records are even more staggering when you consider these facts
- Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was Salman’s second release in 4 months. His last film Bajrangi Bhaijaan released on July 17.
- In terms of star cast, Salman had absolutely no support. In fact, the cast was a negative for the film. Salman’s pairing with Sonam wasn’t liked. Neil Nitin Mukesh and the rest of the cast do not have any value as far as a box office initial is concerned.
- Apart from the star cast, the genre wasn’t favourable either. Family dramas do not get a initial in today’s times and the music also didn’t do as well as it should. The only factors that were in favour of PRPD was the title track going viral and Sooraj-Salman reunion. Of course, a holiday is a huge advantage for any film, but like we have seen in recent times, not every actor can take advantage of a big holiday.
In short, Salman Khan has once again reigned supreme at the box office. He’s the undisputed numero uno star in the industry today, not just because of a film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo taking a record start, but also because he has consistently raised the bar. The genre, star cast, director, promotions or release period, does not matter!

Coming to the performances of the actors! Anupam
Kher, Deepak Dobriyal, and Salman Khan are the
only actors who got into the skin of their
characters and gave an entertaining performance.
The rest of the actors just seemed to waste our
time on the big screen.
Neil gave an average performance while Sonam did
a lot of overacting! She is a damn gorgeous actress
but when it came to acting, there was a lot of
overacting which hampered Salman’s presence
sometimes.
The only time we enjoyed the duo together was in
the romantic song, Jalte Diye!
Coming to the villain
of the movie, Armaan Kohli, seriously what was
wrong with Sooraj Barjatya? Was Armaan the only
guy he could find? For someone who is supposed to
be one of the main antagonists, he surely
disappoints big time!
Direction by Sooraj Barjatya is pretty good,
dialogues are nice and, but the screenplay lacked!
The entire plot of the movie was given away in the
first half which made second half a tad boring!
And all that hype about the best climax… where
was it? There was a climax after a climax after a
climax… the movie should have been ended at an
apt point (Spoiler alert: When Armaan gets killed)
but they dragged and dragged which tested the
patience of people!
Cinematography by V Manikandan was fabulous,
each frame of the movie is scenic and awesome!
The biggest backdrops of this movie are the plot
getting dragged beyond a limit, Sonam Kapoor and
Armaan Kohli. The biggest highlight of this movie
is Salman Khan and Anupam Kher to an extent!
Thank God for Salman Khan!………

today drop is 20%-25% so 30cr + is expected. after bajrangi bhaijan people’s expectation was high for prdp like they were expecting another bajrangi bhaijan movie from salman.prdp is no near to bajrangi bhaijan but its way better than kick.if kick can do 233cr then prdp definitely will do 250+cr and will be another blockbuster.my expectation 275cr

Considering the negative reviews from almost every quarter not expecting the movie to cross Kick’s collection.
You have counted all the negatives but according to Bhai fans before the release of the movie:
The genre was apt for a Diwali release when family audiences come in huge numbers.
The most successful actor-director Jodi in Bollywood would ensure the movie will be HAHK of this century.
The songs of the movie are so soulful and filled with love.Best album of the year
For the 1st time Bhai’s movie releasing on Diwali(since he debuted in 2010) therefore it would cross 50 crores quite easily(@Hrithik waiting for your reaction)
But once the movie begins to witness huge drops in the weekdays all these positives would turn into negatives and they would come with weird excuses.Just wait and watch

Those who say HNY = SRK + Deepika and PRDP = Salman, ignore the iconic return of Sooraj Barjataya. His combination with Salman is more iconic than Farah’s with SRK.
The Sooraj factor in PRDP and being reunited with Salman should not be ignored. Not to mention being the widest release ever and that Salman already had a 300cr+ grosser this year so his fan-following and reputation is at the peak.
Srk rule the box office from 1998-2007 then aamir is ruling from 2008-2014 and salman from 2010-2015. Dont compare srk with salmir. He should either be compared with salman or aamir not two of them together

Regarding screen I don’t know these screens game, just check last year hny prediction article where Indicine said hny released on 5000 screen and they claim prdp released on 4500 screen all India. And today on other article they said hny released less screen than prdp. Seriously.
the whole media are not able to give perfect screen count and every big film producer declares that they released there film in most screen ever. And the fans started to fight then with less screens,less ticket and blah blah.
