Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is India’s goodwill ambassador for the Rio Olympics, will be presenting Indian Olympic athletes with cheques of Rs 1,01,000 each.
Since the country has sent a record 118 athletes to Rio this year, the total amount that Salman would be presenting as a ‘gesture of appreciation’ would be nearly Rs 1.2 crore.
The actor, who was recently seen in a sports-based film ‘Sultan’, said the government is supportive of sports and each one of us should do our bit to encourage sports in the nation.
As a gesture of appreciation for our Olympic athletes, I will present each one with a cheque of Rs1,01,000.

First of all this is not Charity. This is small token of appreciation from Bhai to those who competed in Olympics representing India. There are 2 reasons for Salman to put this on Social Media. One is to spread the word to appreciate the athlete and support other sports (apart from Cricket). Another is to inspire other celebrities & Governments to do something for these athletes.
