Reema Lagoo passes away at 59, industry mourns

Veteran Actress Reema Lagoo passes away on Thursday morning following a cardiac arrest that cut short the life of the 59-year-old.

She breathed her last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH), where she was rushed shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Reema was famous for her portrayal of a middle-aged woman – both on television and in feature films.

She played important roles in blockbusters like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ and several others. She was also seen in other hugely popular films like ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Saajan’, ‘Rangeela’ and ‘Kya Kehna’.

Her most sensitive performance and arguably her best too was in Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Vaastav’ – where she played the role of Sanjay Dutt’s mother.

On television, she excelled in shows like ’Khandaan’, ‘Shrimaan Shrimati’, ‘Do Aur Do Paanch’. One of her more popular roles was in ‘Tu Tu, Main Main’ where she played the ‘saas’ (mother-in-law). She was also shooting for the on-going serial ‘Naamkaran’.
