Ranbir Kapoor has the best line-up of upcoming films amongst actors in the industry. He has signed films with the biggest of directors and for someone who has already proved his mettle at the box office, he looks set to challenge the Khans for a place at the top. Each of his films in the next two years looks promising.
Here is the list of all the upcoming films of Ranbir Kapoor in 2015 and 2016:
Roy (Ranbir Kapoor’s Next Film)
- Release Date: 13th Feb 2015
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez
- Director: Vikramjit Singh
Written and directed by debutante director Vikramjit Singh, Roy is a romantic-thriller which would have Ranbir and Arjun Rampal pinned against each other and Jacqueline Fernandez portraying a double role for the first time. The film’s USP lies in the less experimented thriller genre and its music which is being given by Ankit Tiwari and the Meet Brothers. Also, since Ranbir did not have any release in 2014, this one would be the film that his fans have been waiting for – even though there are reports that he only has a limited role to play. T-Series is cleverly marketing it as a Ranbir Kapoor film.
Bombay Velvet (2015)
- Release Date: 15th May 2015
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Raveena Tandon and K K Menon
- Director: Anurag Kashyap
Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Bombay Velvet is a film-noir drama film which stars Ranbir and Anushka with Karan Johar making his full-fledged acting debut. The movie was due to release in December last year but its release was delayed as Kashyap felt that work was needed to be done in the post production department. The film is being touted as Anurag Kashyap’s first mega-budget film and with Karan Johar being the villain, its buzz is surely going to be sky high.
Jagga Jasoos (2015)
- Release Date: 28th August 2015.
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Govinda and Katrina Kaif.
- Director: Anurag Basu
Ranbir’s third film of the year, Jagga Jasoos would see him play a detective who is in search of his missing father – a role that will be played by Govinda. The film will reunite the director-actor pair of Ranbir and Anurag Basu after delivering the highly appreciated Barfi. The film will also be jointly produced by them under their own banner, Picture Shuru Productions. Ranbir would also be working with his girlfriend Katrina Kaif for the first time since the couple confessed about their relationship.
- Release Date: Christmas 2015
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone
- Director: Imtiaz Ali
Imtiaz Ali is one of the best directors in the industry and he teams up with the ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ duo of Ranbir and Deepika Padukone. The film is currently locked for release during the ‘Christmas’ period, but there are reports that Tamasha could be postponed to a later date. After ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Highway’, the music of the Imtiaz Ali film will be composed by A.R. Rahman once again.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
- Release Date: June 3 2016
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma
- Director: Karan Johar
Yet another biggie. Karan Johar returns to direction with a film starring Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka. Speaking about the film, Karan had said “Love is the theme and conflict of my next directorial endeavor. When I worked with Ranbir and Anushka in Bombay Velvet, I knew their pairing and undeniable chemistry warranted another film and I am extremely excited to direct them. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil also fulfills my big dream to work with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. It is possibly her most unusual and contemporary character and I can’t wait to work with her. It is too early to talk about the film, but for now, all I want to say is that it is not a conventional love story or love triangle. It’s a film that dwells deeply on relationships, heartbreaks and how love completes you, defines you and yet leaves you wanting for more. I have never had, in my entire career, a film that has come to me so fast, so organically and so from within.”
Superhero film directed by Ayan Mukerji (2016)
- Release Date: December 23 2016
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt
- Director: Ayan Mukerji
Ranbir will be playing a mythological superhero in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ director Ayan Mukerji’s next. The film, produced by Dharma Productions, will star Alia Bhatt. Talking about his role, Ranbir had said “I am excited to play the role of a superhero, but when we talk of superheroes, we just have one image — Spiderman or Superman. But he (Ayan) isn’t writing a film along those lines. I think it’s a fantasy-based film, a mythological in contemporary times. And it will have a boy who will have some form of superpowers. But right now, it’s too early to talk about it”.
Sanjay Dutt Biopic (201 6 or 2017)
- Release Date: Not announced
- Cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt, there are reports that Amitabh Bachchan could play Sunil Dutt
- Director: Rajkumar Hirani
We saved the best for the last! Ranbir Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani, Amitabh Bachchan. It can’t get bigger or better than this, can it? The best director in the industry teams up with arguably the most natural actor in Bollywood. Ranbir would be playing Sanjay Dutt on-screen. There are also reports that Amitabh Bachchan could play Sanju’s father Sunil Dutt. It will be interesting to see how Hirani adapts the real-life story of Dutt’s colourful yet controversial life – Three marriages, accused of illegal possession of arms that were used in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, jail-term, drugs and a professional career filled with much-loved characters. 2016 / 2017’s most-awaited film undoubtedly.
We understand that it would be extremely difficult to pick just one from Ranbir Kapoor’s Upcoming film list (most would pick Raju Hirani film anyway), so we give you a chance to pick any TWO FILMS. Vote now for the film that excites you the most.
Anurag Kashyap! Rajkumar Hirani! Imtiaz Ali! Anurag Basu! Karan Johar!
Jiyo Ranbir jiyo! !
I have voted for Bombey Velvet. It should be an Interesting and unique film! Then It’s a tie between Tamasha and Jagga Jasoos! ! Sanjay Dutt Bio-pic will release in 2017 . So I don’t want to discuss about it.
Ranbir probably has the best line up of movies. He is immensely talented and if he chooses the right scripts there’s no stopping him.YJHD almost challenged the collections of 3 idiots.Hope he has a tremendous year ahead and he climbs the ladders of success
MOST overrated media created star.Had he been RANBIR KHURANA like AYUSHMANN KHURANA …. HE would have been a perfect spotboy for akshay kumar films!!!!!
Upcoming line-up is all over-hyped because he is working with ex-gf, katrina(salman gf) …. 100 percent mark it on stone .. ALL WILL BE FLOPS .
I am quite skeptical about Raju’s next movie since all his previous movies were issue based movies which gave a brilliant message. But Sanjay’s biopic doesn’t have any scope to raise a issue and I feel he’s directing the movie because of his love for Sanju
Amit Trivedi will compose for Bombey Velvet! ! Huge fan of his music.
Kai Po Che
His music suits the movies and sounds classy too!
ranbir has extraordinary line up of FILM.he has every chance of becoming the king of bollywood replacing the legend khans and hrithik
1. Jagga jasus
2. Sanjay biopic
3. Ayan mukherji next
4. Karan johar next
good ppl always get their due success with time.and now it’s time for ranbir to make the most of next 3yrs and become one of the biggest star in Indian cinema ever
Really can’t choose but i’m choose 3 movie from above list,
Now shouldn’t say about raju hirani because he is No.1 director.
Ranbir is working with best of directors of current time, I have voted for Tamasha and Sanjay Duty Biopic.
I still feel that no release last year after debacle of besharam could affect him initially. His Roy and Bombay velwet is not looking much promising and jagga jasoos will carry huge buzz because Ranbir Kat pair+ Anurag Kashyap.
But Tamasha was direct by imtiaz Ali and most good looking pair Ranbir-Deepika according to me is reason enough to be curios.
Ranbir as superhero is not exciting as these superhero theme is not my kind of films.I only liked one imaginative superhero that is Shaktimaan.
No words need for Sunjay dutt biopic as Raju hirani don’t need any introduction and certificate.
Current top5 stars of bollywood(excluding the business of manipulationpur)…….
@Indicine, when you publish Salman’s upcoming movie?
Ranbir kapoor ‘s link-up news which are shown on TV for 2 hrs are much more spicy and entertaing than his boring films like rockstar, barfi, tamasha, velvet etc… Indian media has made star out of him.Otherwise he is overrated.
Only 2 choices? That’s so unfair. It has 4 of my favorite directors and I have only 2 options. I go with Jagga Jasoos and Sanjay Dutt biopic. Hatred towards Asambuddha Chakraborty aside, I am keenly awaiting all his films.
1. Sanjay Dutt Biopic:
This is exciting for 3 reasons. A challenging script for Hirani. He has to make sure he isnt biased towards Dutt and provide neutral view. Hirani has always being judgemental in his films so it’s interesting to see whether he can pull off this script.
Secondly, I felt he wasnt utilizing his talent with almost similar treatment in all his 4 films. With this film he sheds off the comedy-drama genre. And lastly, it is a very challenging role of Ranbir. Let’s see if he can successfully deliver a stellar performance!
2. Jagga Jasoos:
To be honest, I am not a fan of Barfi. It had many Chaplin rip-off scenes. But I really love “Life in a Metro” It blew my mind. I hope Basu does something completely out of the box with this film.
A big fan of Imtiaz Ali. My second favorite mainstream director. Was a bit disappointed with Highway, the pace of film was quite dull for me. But he gave Aalia her best role till date. The last time he collaborated with Ranbir, he managed to give him not just a lease of life but established him as the next big thing in the industry!
4. Bombay Velvet:
At number 4 because I read an article stating the film has gone wrong. Anurag’s only misfired attempt is No Smoking, apart from that he has given hardcore realistic movies. Black Friday is an experience. Can he create a Bombay of 60s effectively? Will he be able to handle a 100 crore budget? If the answer is yes, he goes right at the numero uno position!
Ayan Mukerjee film can be exciting. Dont know the details though. With Karan he may get numbers, but I am not at all excited about it. He has a very strong line-up. Commercially I cant predict, but each film looks very high on content!
Ranbir has the best line up. he is really lucky. he is working with the best directors of B’town.
Jj will be huge film if it gets a festival release while Tamasha will be his first 200 cr but Bombay Velvet looks like it gonna suffer a lot due to its postpone problem for more than one year.
anyway my pick are JJ and Sanjay’s biopic
Ranbir kapoor is next Amir khan in quality movies, next Salman khan in fan following & stardom and next Srk in acting. He is extraordinary, actually he is the mixture of 3 khans.
Great lineup!! Unarguably the Best for any actor..
My picks will be: tamasha and jagga Jaasoos.
I am greatly anticipating his Roy also..
Ranbir has 2nd best line up of upcoming movies after Salman. He already surpassed hr, i am sure wil surpass king too shortly.
@Sambudha: Don’t worry he won’t surpass Khans and HR even if all these films become huge Hits…
I think Ranbir’s relationship with Katrina has paid him rich dividends. He has always grabbed the headlines for allegedly fighting and patching up with Katrina. He has never been out of the limelight because of his personal life
Ranbir kapoor is an unique star. Chhota packet , bada dhamaka hai ye
One correction- In Roy, its just a cameo like Srk in Billu and Hrithik in Luck by chance.
And yes Ranbir does have the best lineup. He has the chances of taking huge leaps in next 2 years.
overated actor in his upcoming films except Rajkumar hirani neither any director have a smart brain to make a film for audience.
anurag kashyap – his films are only understand by him and his fans
imtias ali who’s film YJHD when I go to see theatre after one hour I sleep because theres nothing in the film which can make me impress.
karan johar – most stupid and overated director in our industry his main business is fashion shows not direction.
Ranbir kapoor’s fan following is increasing continueslly. his all movies looks great even Roy creates a huge buzz in public. I think Roy will take huge opening just bcoz of Ranbir’s craze.
@akash good to see a rk fan in indicine for the first time.I hv been fighting a loneky battle fir last 10 months but it’s nice to hv a smart companion like u.
plz b active throughout the yr in indicine.lets remain united for our fav rk
#unity is strength
I don’t like Ranbir but I like his movies. Every movie are different frm each other. i’ll watch his all movies and starts with Roy.
Ranbir Kapoor’s 2015 – 2016 Movies reminds me of Hrithik Roshan in 2000 after Kaho Na Pyar Hai.
He was working with these directors and all movies looked like potential blockbusters
Vidhu Vinod Chopra – Mission Kashmir
Subhash Ghai – Yaadein
Karan Johar – K3G
Sooraj Barjatya – Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon
Result we all know. Except K3G all failed. So having good films with best directors doesn’t always mean he will become the top actors. I don’t think Roy will work and if Bombay Velvet fails then he will be in trouble. Anurag Basu is also very inconsistent, so can’t say about Jagga Jasoos.
But Ranbir, like Hrithik, is a talented actor.. so he will come back even if all these films fail.
@arjunkapoorfan well I have been his fan since I saw saawariya’s trailer. I am probably the oldest RK fan.
M dying to see Bombay Velvet. Ranbir kapoor + Anurag kashyap = Epic movie.
Also I like his Roy look specially in Tu hai ki nahi song. His bike, his jacket and his hunk look really impressed me a lot.
My Pick Tamasha and Bombay velvet
