Ramaiya Vastavaiya did reasonably well in its first weekend, collecting around Rs 13.1 crore net (distributor figure). The film opened to a decent response on Friday, but picked up on both Saturday (15% growth in business) and Sunday (30%).
The Girish Kumar starrer is extra-ordinary in a few mass-dominated areas like Rajasthan, few centres in Gujarat, Bihar and C.P Berar. In fact, the business of Ramaiya Vastavaiya in a select few centres has pleasantly shocked the exhibitors, as the collections are higher than much-bigger films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Aashiqui 2 and Race 2.
In today’s time though, with multiplexes generating more than 80% of business, Ramaiya Vastavaiya has failed to attract the city-audience in big numbers. The film is a complete failure in big cities.
Business from a few circuits are as follows.
- Mumbai – 4.7 crore
- Delhi/UP – 2.6 crore
- C.P Berar – 1 crore
- Rajasthan – 1 crore
- East Punjab – 0.75 crore
Hope the film makes it to HIT status.
Both RV and D-Day will be Hit!
