Acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who had directed the anti-religion film ‘PK’, has said that a lot of people have died because of religion. India’s biggest problems, he said, would be solved if people get rid of the ‘divisive attitude’ and stop dividing everything.
“India’s biggest problems will be solved the moment people get rid of the divisive attitude. We human beings have divided everything. The colour green is for Muslims, ‘gerua’ for someone else. We have even divided animals – cow for one and goat for another. We need to understand that we are one race. The moment we take this off, a lot of problems will be solved. Lots of people have died in our country in the name of religion and nothing else” Hirani said.
The director stressed that religion was man-made and people who are giving us answers on God, are contradictory.
“This (PK) was the only film, which I genuinely wanted to be talking about something. I have always been fascinated by the concepts regarding God. There are many people around us who are giving us these answers but they are often contradictory.”
“Lots of the fights in our country are because of religion. We don’t realise that religion is nothing but man-made”
The director, however, refused to comment on Aamir Khan’s statement on ‘growing intolerance’ in the country.

Yesterday I read a very good essay about science and religion.

@Jitender First of all there’s nothing wrong in being an atheist.I am an Atheist and don’t believe in God but that doesn’t mean I mock those who do so.Being an Atheist gives you a broader view about life and there’s nothing wrong in being one.I have seen some of my friends bad mouthing those who don’t believe in their ideologies about religion.You could check the comment sections of any Video on YouTube involving any religion and you could understand how myopic the thinking of some so called “Protectors of religion” is.Everyday there’s a debate about how superior their religion is as compared to others on various public forums.There are so many instances where riots have took place due to religion.People can be easily misled to believe that they need to take a stand and take some barbaric steps in the name of God.

Yesterday I have told the remarks to my cousin who is doing Masters in Mass communication. When I said that Aamir is wrong about intolerance and pk success is proof. She said if you were tolerant with pk and why not with now Aamir’s current statement. When you are bringing PK ideology in this contest than what about OMG. Even in OMG the two main antagonist was Hindu played by Govind Namdev & Mithun Chakrwarty and they were Hindu Guru. Paresh said murti as pathar.
I am 100% sure OMG is definitely a better film for all of those who watched both pk & omg with absolute neutral way. But many of them only rating OMG higher to pk because later starred A Muslim as a lead. But then BOX office success proved the rest.
On beef ban in Hindustan we worship cow , why we kill to cow . But In Muslim 62 country there is ban on Pig killing . In Muslims country why such double mind Muslim people .

PK on the whole had a good laugh at all the religions but being an Indian film it obviously had to be more about Indias biggest religion in order to broaden the horizons of the majority…! Having a 3 hr film dedicated to Islam or Christianity wouldnt have benefited the majority bcoz the film was about getting followers to be more actively involved in their religious practices rather than passive n accepting everything they are fed as the whole truth about God…!
My view is that The earth is billions of years old n religions are afew thousand yrs old- big difference so obvious question is why did God wait billions of yrs to create MEN….? Did he feel now is the time to have people worship him n why does he need to be worshipped when for billions of years he was quite happy with the status quo…?
The problem haters have with PK is not whether the message of the film about self awareness n individual spiritual connect with God but why didnt PK enter the mosque with wine…????

If every person thought that he won’t have to answer to a higher authority for his crimes, then everyone would be a murderer!!!! I too have come across times where I want to kill someone and the only thing that stopped me was that Allah was watching me and He would ask me on day of judgement…
Another thing is that all religions are peaceful, and only those people who know less than 5% of their religion actually do terrorism/killings and cause them to abandon their religion.. If a person is properly educated about his own religion, he would never do these things… A Muslim who has killed innocents(or even guilty) are not Muslims, they are only Muslims by name and Allah would punish this”man” for his sins….Again,, I don’t know about other religions much, but I do know that they also encourage peace…
And those saying why they didn’t show Aamir enter mosque with wine, it is because it is a great sin in Islam and Aamir is a Muslim, he would have never done it…The one who does not drink alcohol, why should he want to be punished by bringing it to place of worship,giving to others,etc.

Muslims need someone to lead them in prayer( which is called salah or namaz). And any one of the muslims can be the Imam or leader of that prayer, if he is capable of doing that. There is no caste in Islam. No division. But, bad people are everywhere, so divisions are happening. And what you see in films about Islam, its 100% fake. Islam doesn’t support worshipping anyone except God. Even prophet Muhammad can’t be worshipped.
