Actor Rajkummar Rao, born as Rajkumar Yadav, says he is on ‘cloud nine’ after winning the National Award for Best Actor in Shahid.
“Thanks. I am extremely happy and elated that I have won the National award. I am on cloud nine. I always wanted to win but never expected it would happen for Shahid.”
Rao was last seen in this year’s biggest critically acclaimed success ‘Queen’, where he played the role of Kangana Ranaut’s boyfriend.
The actor was also awarded the ‘Best Actor Critics’ at the Filmfare Awards earlier this year.

The lyrics of Thanga Meengal were much better than that of Lootera. Just becoz you are a fan of Lootera that doesnt mean every award should go to it. Many regional movies are much better than Lootera but dont get appreciation they deserve due to language barriers. And as for Best Film, it didnt go to a senseless crap like Chennai Express or any top grossing movie. Even Oscars got it wrong like Citizen Kane, Saving Private Ryan, Goodfellas didnt win Best Picture. Does that mean Oscar are fake?
National Awards know what they are doing. Even if you have lost faith in National Awards, they still are the most prestigious and every actor/filmmaker wants it.
National Awards could have given Best Popular film to Dhoom 3 or Chennai Express to please Aamir or SRK fans but it went to Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which really deserved. And though I am an Aamir fan, I think it was a perfect choice. Happy to see that quality matters and not Boxoffice.

@nipun if hr not nominated for K3 as best actor than you also included Filmfare in that list. I haven’t seen Shahid yet but i have seen Rajkumar in Talaash and Kai po che. He is brilliant actor and happy for him. Although i am still surprise for Jolly llb selection.

So, it seems the Fox Studios did have a say (read dollars) at the Nationals.
Jolly LLB? Seriously, the movie is pretty average with many loop holes.
Saurabh Shukla and Boman gave their best, no doubt, and congrats to Saurabh for winning best supporting actor in the movie.
But Best Feature Film? Its a freaking joke. Drishyam, the Malayalam movie was rated the best, and should have won.
BMB deserved in that catagory.so did shahid. But jolly llb wasn’t best, though was a nice film. Atleast one award in cinematography cud hv been given to lootera.
