Rajesh Mapuskar the next Rajkumar Hirani?

Vinod Chopra Films – the banner behind films like Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots – has always believed in the philosophy of ‘Chase excellence and success will follow’. Be it directors or actors, anyone who has worked with Vinod Chopra Films, have successfully adhered to and delivered according to the same principle.

Names like Rajkumar Hirani and Pradeep Sarkar are the best examples of debut directors from the Chopra camp, to have raised the bar of excellence for Hindi films. Hirani’s debut directorial Munnabhai MBBS, starring Sanjay Dutt as Munna and Arshad Warsi as Circuit, will be loved as a cult classic for generations to come. The movie went on to win the National Award for the Best Popular Film in 2003. It was also the fifth highest grossing movie of the year.

Another lesser known director – Pradeep Sarkar with his directorial debut Parineeta, in 2005, created magic onscreen that will be difficult to recreate for years to come. The movie starring Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan (on debut) was critically and commercially successful.

This year, Vinod Chopra is all set to launch a new director – Rajesh Mapuskar in Ferrari Ki Sawaari. The movie has already created excitement amongst the audience. The film, speaking essentially about the strong bond between a father and son, also portrays the three generations of a Parsee family beautifully.

Rajesh Mapuskar has a responsibility of living upto the faith that people have in Vinod Chopra Films. What remains to be seen is if Ferrari Ki Sawaari starring Sharman Joshi, one of the Idiots from the 3 Idiots, surpasses the high-standards set by some of the banner’s previous films.

Is Rajesh Mapuskar the next Rajkumar Hirani?

  • Agreed with u Indicine, its full of competition, n who knws, he can be prove himself much better than raju as he has much more difficult work to do as raju had his film wid quality actors, where on the other side, rajesh has sharman (lot of potential-no doubt) but also carries a lil child, it will be challanging…. FINGERS CROSSED :)
