The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has decided to end their protest against Dharma Productions’ Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, after a closed-door meeting between party supremo Raj Thackeray, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, producer Karan Johar and Mukesh Bhatt.
After the meeting, Thackeray spoke to the media and revealed that he has received assurances from the film industry that henceforth they wouldn’t be working with any Pakistani artists.
“In the meeting with Mukesh Bhatt and others, I told them when Pakistan wants, it releases our films when they don’t want they ban our films and bans our channels. Then why are you time and again rolling out the red carpet for them? Is there any such really big star there that you have to take them in films here? No need of all these things”
Thackeray also said he does not care if it’s Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar or anyone else – every producer whose films feature a Pakistani actor has to pay Rs 5 crore to the army welfare fund.
“When CM asked me what solution could be offered, I told them before the start of the movie, they should put up a message slate saying that we are offering our respects and prayers to the URI martyrs and all those soldiers who lost their lives in earlier terror attacks and we salute our jawans. We will also need a written undertaking Producers Guild that they will not work with any Pakistani artistes, singers or technicians. So they have agreed. Apart from these, they will talk to the CM and decide how much money they will give. I have told them by way of penance, every producer who has worked with Pakistani artistes, be it Shah Rukh Khan or Karan Johar, they should give Rs 5 crore to the army welfare fund” Thackeray said.
Thackeray has even asked the producers to click a picture and show it to people of the country.
“They should hand over the cheque to Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar, click a picture and show it to people. Now how much money they will give is something they will tell the CM and then tell us.” the MNS chief added.
He also said they’ve been victorious in their ongoing effort in banning all Pakistani artists from the country.
“It’s a victory of our protest that Pakistan actors will not work in our films anymore. From today they will not engage with Pak actors. Those who have already completed shooting that producer should atone. I also don’t think the films that will have Pakistani actors people of India will go to watch it”
“MNS has many times protested against Pakistani artistes in the past but people from the film industry never understood. Now they will realise and understand. When the CM asked me if any solution was possible, I asked what solution could be offered when these people don’t want to understand anything at all. We have tried telling them so many times but finally, it looks like they are only pretending to not understand. Uri attacks or Pathankot like attacks have been happening in India since long. Bomb blasts and many other attacks have happened in India many times”
Shame on Maharashtra government. This goon was sitting right there and putting across his obnoxious demands and they (CM and officials) remained mute spectators.

Doesn’t this fall under the category of ‘Forced Patriotism”..? Everybody has those strong sentiments for their motherland, but is it necessary to force someone to admit that?
They should have left this on the conscience of producers but you can’t impose patriotism on gunpoint.

This is a form of ransom and it’s nowhere different from what Shahabuddin does in Bihar. The only way it is different from the conventional ransom is, it is an ‘official’ ransom and approved by the Govt of Maharashtra.
Again, if an actor/producer will feel like donating, they will donate but why to force them for such donations???

And here comes the last, but most important part of this whole drama.
It was all about politics and game of power. With these terms, Thackeray wanted to exhibit his strong hold in Maharashtra and unfortunately, he succeeded in doing that.
Look at him, how proudly is he taking the credit.
I am literally disappointed by the Government and CM of Maharashtra.
It seems , Maharashtra is not being run by the constitution of India but by Thackeray and family.

Looking at the conditions set by the MNS I must say they have come to a sensible conclusion when it comes to paying tributes to the jawans before the beginning of every film.Not sure whether asking for 5 crores is a valid demand or not.
Such appeasing policies fuel the aspirations of these goons.
