Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who was criticised for remaining silent on the Uri Attacks, took to Facebook to condemn the ‘act of terror’.
She wrote:
In the 5 years that I have been working as an actor I believe that I have tried my best to keep my country’s respect intact – by being a professional and by representing Pakistan here and elsewhere to the best of my abilities.
As a Pakistani and citizen of the world I strongly condemn any act of terror, any loss of human life no matter which soil it is on. I will not rejoice in bloodshed and war. I will always hope for and dream of a world where my child can live without it, and always plead with everyone to imagine a peaceful world.
It has also been in this time my faith in saner minds and goodness has been restored, thank you for the messages, love and support.
Hoping and praying for peace always.

She has released this statement just for the sake of her movie (Raees), else if it was her natural reaction, she would have reacted long back.
Nonetheless, Pak artists are in huge dilemma.
If they chose to remain quiet, they will lose their job (as most of them rely on Bollywood for their livelihood), however if they chose to be vocal and condemn the Uri attack, Pakistani terrorists will burn them alive. So they are under huge pressure and are clueless how to react :P

Mahira has gone an extra mile to give out a statement she had no business giving — soldiers routinely die all over the world, and rarely does any artist, ANYWHERE from the world condemn or express condolences. When soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan were dying, Hollywood did not expressly state their dismay, neither did they expect condolences from all over the world. if anything, this entire episode reeks of bullying soft targets. Do note — It is another story when civilians die, as we are seeing every day sadly, and Pakistanis are the first to condole with ANY country.
