Shahid Kapoor’s R Rajkumar has opened well at the box office, with business of Rs 10.1 crore on its opening day. The film has fared very well at mass centres like CI, C.P, Rajasthan, Bihar and some parts of the Mumbai circuit.
As expected, the opening was poor in Mysore and West Bengal where such films don’t do too well.
R Rajkumar is by far the biggest opening that a Shahid Kapoor starrer has taken, ahead of films like Mausam and Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. In fact, R Rajkumar collected about 35-40% more than those two films.
Single-screens have witnessed a slight drop in business today (Saturday), so the second day business could be slightly lower or about the same as Friday. If multiplexes in cities pick up towards the end of the day, especially in the Delhi/UP circuit, R Rajkumar might put up better numbers.
The film is likely to collect around Rs 31-33 crore in its first weekend, which is very good for a Shahid Kapoor film.
