@Yuvraj – You can’t be serious. So, Hrithik is not popular in India? KNPH, Krrish, Dhoom 2, Agneepath, Krrish 3 have been huge success at single screens.
Instead of taking easy ways out and doing illogical action scenes in his movies, he’s trying hard to evolve Bollywood by doing world class action movies like this. The stunts in Bang Bang are far better than any Bollywood film, it is on par with many Hollywood films. And you are suggesting him to stop contributing to Indian cinema and follow easy mantra (make masala films) to earn money?
Its a win win situation for HR lovers.
If BANG BANG collects good then — No official trailer, no high octane promotion, clash….but still awesome collection.
If BB collects poor to average or above/below average — Clash, low promotion bla bla bla blaaaa.

@ rohit first u know masala means comedy, action, romance everything so an actor show his acting skills more in masaala movies. i read that news in dainik bhaskar news paper tomorrow. hrithik is popular in urban india no doubt but he is not popular now like knph days. masala movies get more viewers just becuz of variety they get comedy, action, romance etc.
@Yuvraj, you did define masala genre, but not completely. There is over the top comedy, illogical action scenes, romance, cheesy dialogues and item numbers. Overall, maybe good entertainment for some people, but certainly ‘leave your brain at home’ material. I have nothing against it, it has its own audience, certain section of audience likes it, even I have liked many of them.
Masala movies require more acting? Maybe, you meant more entertainment value? If not, then maybe Salman’s acting in Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Ready, ETT was better than his acting in Tere Naam, MPK, HAHK?
You’re still not understanding the popularity thing, how do you measure it? Agneepath, Krrish 3 are not from his KNPH days, right? Yet they did extremely well at single screens, as did Dhoom 2 and Krrish, his other commercial films. Yes, Salman is still king of mass audience.
BTW, Himmatwala (granted Sajid had lost it), Boss, Khilaadi 786, Jai Ho etc were also masala films, but they didn’t get that many viewers, so I don’t believe that masala movies get most viewers, neither 3 Idiots was a masala, Krrish 3 was a superhero movie, and even Dhoom 3 can be barely called as a masala film, it was more of a drama/thriller. Only Chennai Express and Kick have collected over 200 cr as full masala movies. People do like variety, I’m quite confident PRDP will do more than Kick and Shuddhi even more if everything goes right, and neither of them are masala.

how many pure romantic movies or pure comedy/action movies can do 200 crore movies? which gener 3 idiots belongs to romance/ comedy/ educational? there are good romantic and bad romantic movies also so same case with masala. and dnt forget 2 of most successfull movies in indian cinema sholay and gadar were also masala movies.
what do you mean about no acting skills required in masala gener your commet is itself answer bad acting in masala result flop good acting hit exept ce cuz of srk’s overacting and same stuff of his previous movies.
lets talk about hrithik he is popular in knph times everywhere reson srk, aamir suffered from 3 and salman suffered from 2flop so media took his success on pat and said it is and of khans. so that time hr is more popular than khans but after knph he gave many flops and khans gave hits so hr is less popular than khans actually he is more popular than aamir only. k3 collections are doubtfull and will remember as doubtfull. if it wasnt sequel of krrish i dnt think it could do 130 crore. i feel k3’s real collection is 206 crore cuz usually big films collection is 18-25 crore more than trade figure.
ett isnt mpk cuz lack of emotions and feelings but mpk is pure masala movie it had comedy, action, romance, love, comedy.
