Prem Ratan Dhan Payo records 2nd highest opening day of all time

Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has recorded the second highest opening day collections of all time, as the film has collected approx Rs 41.75 crore net including collections from regional versions.

The official figures for the Hindi version is Rs 40.35 crore.

The much-hyped Sooraj R Barjatya film has failed to beat the all-time record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year, which collected Rs 42.62 crore in Hindi and Rs 44.97 crore including collections from Tamil (0.92 cr) and Telugu (1.43 cr) versions.

Considering the genre of the film, the collections of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo are outstanding. Very few family dramas in the last few years have performed well at the box office and none of them have taken a record-breaking start. We have to go back to Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012, which released a day before the Diwali holiday and did reasonably good business.

Check out Top 30 all time highest opening day collections of all time.

  • Lolwa re Lolwa :D
Waiting for naveen aunty,JS,Ultron s comments on HNYs Manipulative figs :D :D :D
Congratulations to Salman n Bhaitards for 2nd highest opening frm 2nd No star :p :p :p

  • more screens..Sooraj Barjatya..slightly higher ticket prices..Salman at peak of career…same to same release date….yet SRK reigns supreme….hence proved..SRK is STILL the biggest SUPERSTAR n biggest crowd-puller of bollywood… period KING KHAN…SRK

  • BAAP is BAAP … , and Beta is beta !

Anyways , the collections are not bad … but the film has received mixed to negative response from audiences as well as crirics !

    Not a good sign …

  • Great after bad WOM still 40cr+ well Done Salman sir PRDP still have a chance 300cr+ BUT probably PRDP won’t beat neither PK or BB
    Die hard fan of Salman
    From Sri Lanka
    My Prediction: 270cr+ ( Super Hit )

  • Biggest director of hindi cinema deadly combo back after 15 years salman is on peak after hugely successful bajrangi grand bugdet and values multi star cast failed to beat a movie directed by farah khan wid huge negative starts rigth after the first poster out low ticket rates lesser screens And They say SHAHRukh star power is not the same now big slapp

  • Coming to jab takh hai jaan its opening was 14 crore
And hughest opening of that time was 31 crore ek tha tiger not even half of it

But here family entertainer almost broke the record
    Power of salman

  • Positives of PRDP :
    1. Super stardom of Salman khan
    2. All time beat family saga
    3. Reunion of hit pair of HAHK/MPK
    4. Increased ticket price and 4500 screens
    5. Released next day of Diwali (one of the best day for business)

And what was the result? Couldn’t cross the collections of a so called crap (for Salman fans) by a big margin. Lol

  • am big fan of salman n srk…salman should consider releasing sultan on dewali..n am sure it will do 50 crore on a day..gud job though but was never impress with prdp to be honest..

  • Kudos to Salman & Sooraj for not manipulating figures just for the sake of creating fake records like some fake queens.. Be always genuine and transparent. We love you..

Today, will be around 33 crores as occupancy dropped by 25% as it is a working day.

No good starcasts, no action genre, no masala,… a family drama made 40 crores plus… Amazing……

  • superb start…
WOM is good & film hold well today morning…
so 130crs+ in 4day weekend on cards.

so till now its first film to cross 40crs mark in single day.

    As far HNY’s 45crs first day controversy…

If we consider official figures(highly manipulated) then with believe in 45crs of HNY we should believe that Krrish3 did 244crs & MSG2 did 350crs.

  • again no manipulation by the megastar like other so called superstars
even haters know if it was an action movie it would have easily collected over 45

  • Awesome 1st day collection of PRDP. This is a real box office collection.
There were lot of confusion about Happy New Year collection.

  • I don’t want to create negativity but to be true the collections are little embarrassing even ce had positivity around it bcoz it beat ett’s record even though just by few lakhs.

  • Now its clear that SRK is biggest star of India. Now haters will give boxoffice india collection….hahahahahah

  • Now don’t put yourself into more embarrassing position by talking about Deepika and manipulation.
Because for you, heroines hardly matter for your bhaijan. He is a one man army. And in this case , you had already declared Sooraj as a top-notch director, who never goes wrong. You were claiming that family audiences will come in hords to watch it. So nothing was against PRDP and it got the most favourable conditions, any other movie will dream off.
